Voters-are-too-stupid tour continues

President Obama on “60 Minutes” the other night continued his perception-is-reality tour, sticking by his contention that the voters did not reject his entire agenda of socialized medicine, excess government intervention, excess spending, deficits and entitlements.

No, according to the great miscommunicator, there is no possibility the voters are right and he is wrong. Like all elites the problem lies not in his inability to discern the correct thing to do, but in his inability to explain to the dolts precisely how he is right and they are so excessively ignorant of what is good for them.

The Sun today devoted an entire article to the premise that voters are stupid and ill informed, repeating several canards, including the one about how 95 percent got an income tax reduction under Obama.

Here is segment of that “60 Minutes” interview:

I think that over the course of two years -- and I mentioned this during the press conference -- we were so busy and so focused on getting a bunch of stuff done that we stopped paying attention to the fact that we yeah, leadership isn't just legislation. That it's a matter of persuading people. And giving them confidence and bringing them together. And setting a tone. And making an argument that people can understand. And I think that we haven't always been successful at that. And I take personal responsibility for that. And it's something that I've got to examine carefully as I go forward.

(Yeah, that’s it. He needed to make an argument you can understand.)

You know, now I will say that when it comes to some of my supporters, some of my Democratic supporters who express some frustration, part of it, I think, is the belief that if I just communicated things better, that I'd be able to persuade that half of the country that voted for John McCain that we were right and they were wrong.

(Never let the thought that you might be wrong enter your head.)

And, you know, one of the things that I think is important for people to remember is that, you know, this country doesn't just agree with The New York Times editorial page. And, you know, I can make some really good arguments defending the Democratic position, and there are gonna be some people who just don't agree with me. And that's okay. And then we've got to figure out a way to compromise. But even as we acknowledge that, this is a big country. And that, you know, there are conservatives who are good people, who feel very strongly about their ideas. That I'm never gonna persuade on some issues.

(Compromise with people you are never gonna persuade?)

I think what's still fair to say is that I can do better than I've done in painting a picture for people about where we need to go. That pulls people together as opposed to drives them apart. And that's one of my central tasks over the next couple of years.

(Actually, he pulled a lot of people together and they opposed his agenda.)

Comrades, if only Obama could persuade the workers to read our hero Marx' Das Kapital, everything would be better!

President Obama on “60 Minutes” the other night continued his perception-is-reality tour, sticking by his contention that the voters did not reject his entire agenda of socialized medicine, excess government intervention, excess spending, deficits and entitlements.

They didn't. The GOP overspent the Democrats by 6-1 with the incessant message of, "Take back America," and "Stop the Socialists." The Tea Party ran in circles, bumping into each other and soaked this paper and FOX with lies and innuendoes. On real shows, like "Face the Nation," and "Meet the Press," the Republicans had to admit they were many part of the Healthcare bill and Stimulus that they could not touch; and that their plan of cutting taxes would add to the debt.

The real question is, in the election of 'Fewer Turnouts,' why did the Independent voters - that kicked out the GOP in 2008 - switch and vote the people responsible for the bad economy right back in? They'll only have to do it again in 2012.

Kinda makes you sick, doesn'it? Ever heard the term "arrogant"? Of course one of Obamas goals is to outdo JFK's reputation as a great orator. You know - he's the man and everyone should believe anything he and his speech- writers say. My hero?

Gee, Jerry, once the independent voters realized that Obama was just another pro-war, pro-big government, pro-Wall Street minion of the bankers, just like Bush, they had a backlash.

Of course, choosing from the amongst the klepto-republicrats for decent, Constitution-abiding servants of the people is quite a crap-shoot...

See? They spent all the advertizing money and it worked on you. President Obama has proven he's not pro-war; his big government is necessary for the economy (to correct the GOP big government); all important economic indicators are up, and you didn't know it.

To INDY, glad to see you here, I tried, repeatedly to reply to you in Sherman's "The people have spoken, the bas-tards," blog, but he's apparently locked me out. (Sixth shortening and try).

Jerry,

I couldn't post in that thread, either.

Pls, Jerry, extricate yourself from Obama's rear for a minute and perform a self-diagnostic reality check. Of course Obama's pro-war, and is a minion of the banksters. If the economy is so great, why QE2?

The average person is getting around $9 a week from the Obama "tax cut". So that is why most people don't realize that they are getting a "tax cut."

It is not a "tax cut" if you don't pay income taxes in the 1st place which a large chunk of people don't.

Seems like the democrats are shouting hurrays for Reid while the rest of Washington falls into Republican hands. Progressives are dead 2012. In comes the fiscal conservatives.

King Louis XVI, err, Obama seems indifferent to the will of the people...

Didnt we see this once before on January 21st 1793?

Oh Tommy, your endless obsession with all things Reid/Obama is beginning to make you look like a pyschotic chacter in an Alfred Hitchcock thriller. Please don't go all Norman Bates because we'd miss your comical perpective and twisted logic that makes reading the RJ so darn entertaining. Put the butcher knife away, Tommy, and step away from the shower.

I'm eagerly waiting for Jerry Sturdirant's reply to Winston's Nov. 09, 2010 at 11:19 AM post. Of course I realize that Jerry doesn't like to talk about issues, right Jerry?

Or maybe the screen guards won't let him post. But I hope that's not the case!

Oh, and in case you forgot, why do we need QE2 when all those economic indicators are up, up, up?

As a Polifact.com analysis has made clear, President Obama is completely correct that his Administration has reduced taxes for 95% of working families, and Mr. Mitchell is thoroughly wrong in mocking that claim.

Mr. Mitchell is thoroughly wrong in mocking that claim.

It's also noticed that this paper backed Senator Reid at one time. Now they don't but they can't address the issues as to why they no longer do. Who on this paper will discuss the issues?

I'm eagerly waiting for Jerry Sturdirant's reply…..

Look, Dup, you've been ridden hard and put away wet. We've all shown you're simply a juvenile name-caller and are unable to address issues or debate points. You dodge the message and attack the messenger. You toss around words you obviously don't understand ("Waa! He's a Communist; Nazi; Marxist, trader! Waa!") As soon as I see it's one of your useless posts, I simply quit rereading and move on to something lucid. You seem to be as clueless about this as you are when others point this out.

Hmmm. Looks like the screen guards let you post, sTudyrant. But there is no answer as to why Dr. Utopia and friends need QE2, when all the economic indicators are so positive in our stimulated recovery.

Now, tell us all again, who's the one dodging the issues?

My job takes me all over this part of Clark county, in those travels I noticed that house on Owens Ave with the upside down US flag this last Summer. This house added Sharron Angle signs towards the end of the campaign. In 08 this same house had a large Obama Biden sign and several smaller ones of the same in the yard. Remember the TV news interview with the home owner? This is one of the independent voters that discovered the hope and change being promised was not what was being provided. Both parties have had a drubbing these last 2 election cycles, lets hope they have learned something from it or a 3rd party may rise up enough to really get enough votes to grab power. That could be good or bad, we just would not know until it were to happen, though a good example is the Tea Party movement, some really good things there and really whacky things too. Be careful what you wish for...

"A representative democracy cannot survive if the electorate are ignorant and immature. "

This quote was translated into English from an article appearing in the Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitung of 28 April 2010.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president."

"The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

"The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool.

"It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

Yet the previous administration put us $5 trillion in debt; started two wars and destroyed our economy. Our present administration saved us from a depression (note the book interviews with Bush) and are presently pulling us from a recession. The newly elected Tea Party promises to cut taxes and spending; but are already backing off; and they aren't even in office yet. We are slowly recovering and the right wingers (and the front pages of the RJ) keep trying to divert you from that fact.

Roll on Tea Party. Reduce spending, reduce government, vote the Dems out. I am tired of being governed from the left.

Here I am Jerry! Hey, you still going on and on about Bush? Love this statement "President Obama has proven he's not pro-war; HIS BIG GOVERNMENT IS NECESSARY FOR THE ECONOMY (And - This to correct the GOP big government); all important economic indicators are up, and you didn't know it". All indicators up? Again, you can find any media that serves your purpose can't you! Think telling everyone that indicators are up will convince people? We're all tired of hearing the same thing, how the economy is moving forward (then they say at a very slow rate - but it's improving!. Wow, it sure is improving. Same 'ole politics...remember, we voters will believe anything that the Administration says. OK, let's see if this causes individuals and business to invest - Obama's banks would love that! Of course, banks and wall street are vital to our economy! - Obama said that after he told us he's going to really regulate them. What a laugh!

The left that saved you from a depression and pulling you from a recession? Well your new Tea Party wants to keep their Tax Cuts for the Rich and are discussing cutting your Social Security benefits and your Medicare benefits to pay for it. Reducing government? They want fewer regulators; like the ones that allowed the Wall Street rich to take your money and ruin the economy. So how do you feel about being governed from the right now?

All indicators up?

Yes. But quote me correctly. All major economic indicators up. Did you notice the Republicans never talked about that during the election? (Other than, "We need to speed up the recovery.")

Again, you can find any media that serves your purpose can't you!

Not from FOX or the RJ. They didn't tell you these facts, did they? The middle and right press did.

Think telling everyone that indicators are up will convince people?

The educated already know. Although it true, you still believed FOX and the RJ. And you voted, just like they told you to. Now they keep their Tax Cuts for the Rich.

We're all tired of hearing the same thing, how the economy is moving forward (then they say at a very slow rate - but it's improving!.

"We're" tired? Is that what the Republicans told you? Now that you know it's fact, what do you say?

Wow, it sure is improving.

Local news yesterday told how the casinos on the strip have shown improvements AGAIN! And like the real news has pointed out: Market up; GDP up and increasing for the last 4 quarters; jobs up; manufacturing up, retail sales up, private sector has added jobs for ten consecutive months, corporate earnings rising, CEOs are reporting greater increases, corporate profits are up and are near all time highs, Wall Street (where big profits are back) is hiring again, company profits at the largest companies in the country increasing to record highs, Service Index increasing for 12 months…….

And you didn't know it. See why Sherman didn't want to talk issues?

At-a-boy Jerry! I feel so warm and fuzzy thinking about how our economy is improving. Hey, all those jobs! Wow! Do you really believe all this Jerry? Gee, maybe all of this PROGRESS is due to the fact that the free-spending Demos have been voted out? "Local news yesterday told how the casinos on the strip have shown improvements AGAIN! What BS! Think all this hype is being used to try and get the economy improving? Convince people and business to invest, create jobs? Boy, you believe anything your Demo friends tell you. Good for you Jerry!

It's fact; and you pretending it's not true, just shows how the Republicans fooled you into voting for them. Had you watched something other than FOX or read something other than the R-J, you'd have known it was true.

See why Sherman refused to discuss the issues? And you fell for it.
