A Republican-leaning political publicity firm says the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has pulled a week's worth of advertising buys on behalf of Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., suggesting it means they don't believe she can win. Democrats see it otherwise.
A Tweet from Smart Media Group, an Alexandria, Va., based advertising and PR firm, on Thursday reported the move:
"The #DCCC just cancelled its 10/5-10/11 flight in Las Vegas........is #Titus toast in the #Dem #NV03 #Congressional #Election?," the Tweet stated.
The firm tracks ad buys using public records.
Andrew Stone of the DCCC offered an alternative explanation to the Republican take that suggested it means Titus is in trouble.
Stone's take was only a theory, as the committe doesn't make the ad buys, an independent arm of the committee is responsible for dispatching resources in support of candidates.
"There are adjustments being made but it is because of the strength of the campaign Titus is running," Stone said. "She has a significant cash on hand advantage over Heck."
Stone said the Democrats reserved large amounts of ad time around the nation weeks ago and will likely continue shifting their buys as circumstances on the ground change.
