Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., has begun gathering House committee assignments.
Amodei's posting to the House Judiciary Committee was finalized this morning. A committee spokeswoman said he was taking part in a work meeting that included debate on several drug control bills and reauthorization of the child safety law named after murdered six-year-old Adam Walsh.
Earlier this week, the new congressman from the 2nd Congressional District was placed on the House Veterans Affairs Committee.
Amodei chief of staff Rick Goddard said the lawmaker still is looking to join the House Natural Resources Committee, a posting that could be finalized next week.
On Judiciary, Amodei was assigned to the Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security subcommittee, and the subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition and the Internet, Goddard said.
