Former federal judge Brian Sandoval still holds a big lead over incumbent Gov. Jim Gibbons in the Republican gubernatorial primary to be decided Tuesday.
According to a poll by Research 2000 poll, sponsored by the liberal Daily Kos Web site, 48 percent of Nevada Republicans say they would choose Sandoval, 27 percent Gibbons and 6 percent former North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon.
The poll also showed that if Sandoval wins the primary, 51 percent of voters statewide would choose him over Democrat Rory Reid, who won support from 41 percent of respondents with 3 percent undecided and 5 percent choosing "other."
The poll was conducted May 31-June 1 with 600 likely voters interviewed and a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points on the general election question and 5 percentage points on the Republican primary question.
Complete results of the poll include favorable and unfavorable ratings for the candidates and questions about the race for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
