Ensign on health deal: "Scrap the entire bill"

With the White House reaching a tentative deal with organized labor over a health care bill, Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., an opponent throughout the debate, issued the following statement:

“This is just the latest of the secret sweetheart deals being handed out as favors in the Democrats' healthcare bill, cut by the White House this time. By this point it should be clear that the so-called 40% 'Cadillac Plan' tax in the healthcare bill is a bad idea that hurts Americans, especially middle-income families who bear the brunt of it.

“It's wrong to keep carving out Democrat cronies from the onerous provisions of this bill and make average Americans suffer.  This is just another example of why this bill needs to be scrapped and we need to start over.  I've spent this past week talking to Nevadans in town hall meetings, and it's clear they are outraged by these deals. Americans won't stand for more favors being given out in this bill at the expense of their paychecks.”
