Former Nellis commander backing Reid
The re-election campaign of Sen. Harry Reid said today it has the endorsement of Col. Howard D. Belote, the recently retired commander of the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis Air Force Base.
In a statement put out by the campaign, Belote said Reid has done a good job watching out for Nellis and for the Fallon Naval Air Station.
Additionally, "Sen. Reid prevented the closure of the Hawthorne Army Depot and the realignment of the Nevada Air National Guard," Belote said. "Most important to me, he supported veterans and families with improved health care and education benefits."

I hope all of those new Nevadans who have not yet checked Reid's record of support for this state will read this and other important endorsements. The negative comments one reads about the senator lack substance and resort to name calling. Reid is an honorable man who has served this state well, and if re-elected, will continue to do so.
I would like to add two points:
1. Amen.
2. Several people, of course under assumed names for the most part, have gone on this site and others and attacked Senator Reid for his criticism of the war in Iraq. If a Nellis commander thinks, correctly, that Senator Reid is a true patriot, what does that tell us?
