Poll: Half of Nevada voters say both Harry Reid, Sharron Angle views 'extreme'
First there was extreme sports. Then extreme makeovers. Now, in Nevada, there's the "extreme" U.S. Senate race.
A Rasmussen poll out today has an interesting finding: At least half of likely Nevada voters say the views of both U.S. Sen. Harry Reid and Republican Sharron Angle are "extreme."
According to the survey, 62 percent describe the Democratic incumbent as a liberal. And 50 percent call his views extreme. Another 41 percent say Reid's in the mainstream.
Rasmussen says Angle is seen as conservative by 81 percent of voters. And 58 percent say she has extreme views. Another 37 percent see her as in the mainstream.
Since Angle won the GOP primary on June 8, the Reid campaign has worked hard to paint the former Reno Assemblywoman as extreme, pointing to her proposals to close some federal agencies such as the education and energy departments to cut U.S. spending, for example.
The Angle campaign and Reid's critics, meanwhile, have argued that the four-term senator is the one who's out of touch with the mainstream. They point to the the new health care law, bank and industry bailouts and other big-spending government programs that have added to the nation's debt without solving the country's deep economic problems.
"Both candidates are seen to hold extreme views by large segments of the population," the Rasmussen Reports poll said.
The good news for Reid is he has now edged ahead of Angle in the latest Rasmussen poll.
Rasmussen shifted the race to lean Democrat after its latest survey showed Reid at 45 percent support compared to Angle at 43 percent. That's a deadheat given the margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. But Reid has been steadily ticking up in Rasmussen polls in the past month. The last Rasmussen poll two weeks ago had Angle up over Reid, 46 percent to 43 percent.
Rasmussen's poll of 750 likely Nevada voters was taken Tuesday using automatic dialing, a technique that's criticized by some pollsters as flawed.

I would like to make everybody aware how Harry Reid 'takes care of Nevada Families' - According to an article in The Washington Examiner entitled 'DRUG LOBBY SHOWERS MONEY ON ITS HERO HARRY REID' (July 7, 2010) that after a WHITE HOUSE meeting on July 22, 2009 the drug companies agreed to support ObamaCare because Harry Reid bribed them with the promise that they can charge the American people any price they want for drugs and prevent Americans from buying those same drugs at a much cheaper price in Mexico and Canada!!! Isn’t it nice to know that Dirty Harry can BRIBE the drug companies in addition to BRIBING senators and unions!!! The price - the drug companies had to fund Dirty Harry's re-election campaign - to date the DRUG PACs donated $500,000 and funds all his TV/Radio Ads!!! Now why this is NOT front page news on the RJ or headline story on the LOCAL NEWS only leads me to believe the Dirty Harry has the media in his pocket and by the B**LS. Also according to Investor’s Business Daily an Annual Report of the Social Security Board of Trustees which for the last 20 years published it yearly report in late April or early May is mysteriously being delayed until late November - Now what happens in early November - Oh Yeah an ELECTION. How Convenient - the church lady would say!!!! The genius team of Obama/Reid/Pelosi does NOT want the American people to know about the future of Social Security and Medicare - especially since Reid cut Medicare by $500 billion when he bribed his way to pass ObamaCare. Now he is pushing the LIE that Angle wants to eliminate Social Security – she wants to FIX it before the Democrats bankrupt the country!!! That's why Nevada will toss him and his son out of office this November - the Reid’s will have a nice Thanksgiving -everybody will be home with no place to go!!!!
Do likely Nevada voters think it is extreme for the Senate Majority Leader to intentionally give an estimated 300,000 construction jobs to illegal workers, especially with 14% unemployment in Nevada?

According to an article in The New Republic by Bradford Plumer (www.tnr.com) Harry Reid is talking to electric utilities to get them to agree on Obama CAP-and-TRADE bill. Harry is NOT bribing them for campaign dollars but is bribing them with weaker EPA regulations. Dirty Harry seems to be willing to weaken the regulations on carbon-dioxide, sulfur-dioxide & emissions like mercury & nitrogen oxide. Harry is also willing to let the utilities keep their old coal-fired plants operating (which of course spew pollutants into the air) because these plants are paid for and the cost of operating them is cheap compared to a modern plant. So again when Harry says he is 'WORKING FOR NEVADA FAMILIES' at least you know the TRUTH!!!

Mark.Gallo - You are so right! Reid is not fighting for families. Big Pharma is backing Reid and paying millions of dollars for his ads. Reid kept Byron Dorgan’s drug reimportation amendment off the floor for 7 days, despite the fact that Dorgan had the 60 votes he needed for cloture. Senate Democrats effectively had to filibuster their own health care bill for a week to do so, something they could not have done without Reid’s coordination. Thank Reid that we cannot get cheaper medications from Canada.
Harry Reid has also lied to Nevadans and the American People about "Privatization" of Social Security and scared the unifomed. Here is what the proposal to "Privatize" Social Security meant: Younger workers would be allowed to take a portion of THEIR contribution to Social Security (Not any of the Employer portion) and invest it into the stock market, with the most likely option being an S&P500 Index fund. This is just like 401ks where you are saving for retirement. What Harry Reid hasn't told you is that he has voted and passed legislation that many widows and widowers, mostly seniors, MUST INVEST in stocks. He passed the Unified Prudent Investor Act (it's in all states and the fed too) that tells seniors when their spouse dies, they MUST invest a portion of the B Trust in stocks or they face legal liabilities. If you are poor and uninformed and don't have a Trust then you won't have to worry. For those who do: Be Forewarned! Reid lies!

All of us who - -think- -have to remain vigilante. We let the baggers gain power last summer because they were the LOUDEST. Period. Maybe because we had won an election by a landslide, or maybe we believed the neocon's would die a quiet death since all of America could have plainly seen by then, what their policies had done to America. Even the baggers knew that we HAD to do something about the health insurance companies raping us; but there they were with their cute little revolutionary outfits on, screaming about socialism; giving us such memorable quotes as: "Keep the government out of VA hospitals" "Leave Medicare alone-we don't government health-care"; and they gained enough power to give us these great candidates such as Angle and Rand. I keep watching for ONE comment that actually praise's Angle from the teaparty and have Yet to see one. All they say is "anyone but Reid". I guess they are chocking on their lemonade? NOT ONE WORD IN PRAISE OF ANGLE OR HER IDEAS! Did I miss a post? I'm SURE someone must like her? or think she has a clue? But all I've read is negative drivel that reads like something a white supremacist religious organization would publish. We the GOP wish to further state that logging, mining, and oil exploration in wilderness areas should start immediately. American business should not be hamstrung by regulations; the market will dictate their safe operations in these areas.
3.We the GOP will end public education.
4.We the GOP believe in preemptive war; not pre-school. The market dictate whose children deserve to be educated. Other children can go to work as we will lower the legal working age to 7.
5.We the GOP will end FEMA, the FDA and the CDC. The market will dictate whose food should be inspected and what diseases we should concern ourselves with. Those faced with natural disasters should not live where those things happen. We will end the freeloading of drunks on welfare and unemployment insurance.
We the GOP will end the needless payment of disability benefits. The disabled can work too.
6.We the GOP believe corporate benevolence will insure the masses of a safe and comfortable life dictated by the market.
7.We just didn't have the time while we were in power but THIS time we will ban abortion.(promise)
8.In the schools that we allow to remain open we will end the teaching of evolution; and-well ALL the sciences not dictated by the market to be of importance.
