Stonewall Dems classing up Nevada politics

Politics is a dirty business, but thanks to the Stonewall Democratic Club of Southern Nevada it doesn't have to be declasse.

The Stonewall group on Saturday is hosting the final debate between the four Democratic candidates for lieutenant governor.

It's not even close to the highest-profile political race in Nevada -- that would be the nasty Republican scrum for the nomination to challenge Sen. Harry Reid -- but the invitation suggests it might be the classiest and most convivial political event of the primary season.

"We will be outdoors under the setting sun listening to music and enjoying a friendly game of Bocci Ball along with your very last chance to choose which Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor you'll be voting for," the invitation states for the event at The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd.

In such a congenial setting it is hard to imagine candidates Jessica Sferrazza, Paul Murad, Robert Randazzo and Robert Goodman will want to shatter the mood with debate tactics as gauche as ugly personal attacks or accusatory "gotcha" challenges.

Fortunately, the Stonewall organizers thought of everything. Everyone gets a free cocktail to kick things off and there will be happy hour drink prices at the Bar Bistro.

The dress code is "outdoor garden party" and cost to attend is $25 for non-members, $15 for members and $10 for students and seniors. The event is from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and doubles as the group's main annual fund raiser.

The Stonewall Democrats is a national network of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered Democratic activists with more than 90 national chapters.

I looked up all the candidates for Lt. Gov. and tried to go through them all and figure out which is best for me.

First, I eliminated any of them over 50 years old - Lt. Gov job needs someone more connected to the current business and technology lifestyle and relationships.

Next any one who has been entrenched in politics for a while is - well entrenched in politics and has already been bought and paid for. Not interesting for me.

That leaves 2 for me - Paul Murad and Robert S. Randazzo

I looked at both there websites, and I must say that Paul Murad looks like a better candidate for me.

His 50-50 plan makes sense and he seems to have a real vision and passion for bringing jobs and business to Nevada.

God knows we need both!!!

Paul Murad will get my vote for Lt. Gov in the June Primary and November election.

Oh, his website is: www.paulmurad.com
