| Rory Reid |
A blunt news release from the union, headed by Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross, frames the endorsement as an explicit condemnation of Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley's work in the recently concluded legislative session.
Though "both Barbara and Rory contacted our affiliates for support," Ross says in the release, the early endorsement is going to Reid "because this Legislature left so many difficult decisions on the table for next session."
Ross added, "Coming out of a legislative session where the concerns of working men and women, like creating jobs, were too often put on the back burner, we need a leader who will bring a fresh perspective to Carson City. We believe that Rory Reid, with his years of service to Nevada and deep commitment to working families and creating jobs, is that leader.”
The council is an umbrella organization representing 16 construction-related unions with 22,000 members.
Elect Reid and you will guarantee a state income tax to go on top of Obama's taxes on everyone. We're on life support now. A tax and spender like Reid will be the plug puller.
Of course, the union could care less about that. Anything and anyone who keeps their snouts in the trough makes them happy. Hopefully the membership will not allow themselves to be brainwashed but that is wishful thinking.
If this guy Rory is like his Pappa, and I don't think I'm to far off the mark, then we're in trouble as a state. But to the state's misfortune, there is no real Republican candidate that is making news, except for Gov Gibbons, which the media detests. Personally, Gibbons is the best thing Nevada has even though the media lambastes him and the public dummies follow along.
I do think Rory Reid could do better for the state of Nevada if he becomes dog catcher or maybe a union president somewhere. The guy is boring, no character, and no sense of humor and above all else, a tax a-spendis variety that is not needed in Nevada, how in the world did he get elected county commissioner I'll never know...Oh yeah Poppy!
What is another one or two billion in taxes???
It reads like this:
Step 1: Spend
Step 2: Tax
Step 3: Borrow
Step 4: Repeat Steps 1 through 3
In the first 50 days of the Obama Administration, the Pelosi-Reid Democrat-controlled Congress voted for $1.2 trillion in new government spending. Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell had the best take on the Democrats' runaway spending, "To put that in perspective, that's about $24 billion a day, or about $1 billion an hour -- most of it borrowed."
And exactly how do the liberal Democrats propose to pay for all this new spending? Higher taxes and borrowing, of course.
Obama's budget proposal calls for a massive tax increase of $1.4 trillion and at least $646 billion in new energy taxes that will be paid by every American family as companies pass on the cost to consumers.
Since tax hikes won't cover the entire cost of this boondoggle, our government will have to borrow more from foreign governments and creditors. This will lead to our national debt tripling over the next ten years to $23.1 trillion and gives our foreign creditors like China a greater say in the America we leave for our children and grandchildren.
Progress and change for Nevada, specifically Southern Nevada located at the center of Socal, Southern Utah, and Phoenix, require an affirmation of firm and thoughtful leadership towards new industry, new jobs, a refocus on education and "what's right" for Vegas long term, with the power and influence to back it up.
I have taken your argument and made a little substitution to show how ridiculous the argument is...
"Haha. Don't hate on the [Communist Party] because we were smart enough to organize and be powerful enough to get what we want. Maybe you people whining should join [the Communist Party] because you will certainly never beat them. They already have too much power to ever take it away. Now lets all hug and start planning [Stalin's] victory party ;)"
You are so right. Certainly we should not worry about right and wrong, whether the good of the people is being served, only whether the leeches of destruction have a enough power to continue their suckling at the teat of prosperity. The fact that they "already have too much power" is all the more reason to take it away
