Joe Biden's got a lot of nerve

Vice President Joe Biden must think Nevadans are idiots. That's the only conclusion one can make after the comments he made Friday at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Let's start off with the little white lie that the private affair at UNR was "not a political event". The truth is that Biden was in Reno to stump for Sen. Harry Reid. That very morning, Biden spoke at a fundraiser breakfast at a local casino in which 30 patrons paid $2,400 to re-elect Reid.

So, Mr. Vice President, your visit to Reno was first and foremost political.

The truth-spinning didn't end there. Biden told the UNR crowd that even though Nevada has not felt the turn-around yet, he and President Obama have licked the recession. "The recovery act is working." He then told the UNR crowd that Harry Reid hung the moon and he's the exact right guy Nevadans need to send back to Washington in November 2010. "Harry knows what is worth fighting over and what’s worth losing over."

Jeez, nothing political here, Mr. Vice President.

Look, you know and I know politicians lie. And on the grand scale, Biden's lie in Reno was low-level. But here's the rub.

If Biden can't even come clean on why we was in Reno, why should be believe him on any other stuff?

Nevada is still mired in the recession. Our housing industry is the worst in the country. Yet, the Obama crowd in the form of Joe Biden comes here to tell us the crisis is over?

If Harry Reid and Joe Biden and Barack Obama had done any measurable thing to alleviate the housing pain in Nevada, he would have fixed the problems in the rest of the country. But they haven't. We're still in the soup and at the Obama pace of doing things for Nevada, we're going to be here for a while.

I want to be fair here. It's a tough task. I'm not expecting miracles. But I do expect a little truth now and again.

Next time you come back to Nevada, Mr. Vice President, we'd appreciate it if you'd at least not treat us like idiots.

Well, first Sherm, you ARE one. But more importantly, where were you when Bush and Cheney were executing the policies that got us into this mess? From what I can remember, your take at the time was that things were fine and we didn't need to do anything. So, were you wrong then or are you wrong now?

DeparateSherm: Wake up. The only thing that Bush did wrong was not try to stop the libs from destroying our country. Fannie and Freddie were the major cause. These are two programs that caused the economic downturn. You libs never acknowledge that fact. The estimates were 65% or more of the failed mortgages had some connection with the Community Reinvestment Act, i.e. giving people mortgages because of non-economic reasons. Now your Dems want to expand the Community Reinvestment Act.... Give me break...

I know I will never get through to you but I must try.

Additionally, DS, you are missing Sherm's point. Biden's statement was at best incorrect but he said it because he knew that no one in the press would call him on it. If GWB did that he would have been denounced to the ends of the earth. Moreover, BO and his administration does not care about Nevada because he knows he will lose the state next time.

Sherm, you are soooooo wrong.

You need an education.

The Taliban's HQ is in Reno.

Biden was trying to negotiate a peace agreement with them which is how he thinks the Afghanistan/Pakistan problem will be fixed.

See....you get it now.

He waz on business.

He will get to that focusing on that jobs thingy later...like he said once, It is all about a three letter word (Biden can't count), Jobs, Jobs Jobs.

He also claimed once that he was in the top half of his law class. He graduated 76th out of 85 students.

Hmmmm...he does need a refresher course in math but he was on offical business in Reno and that is why the taxpayers paid for his trip to Reno.

You keep saying Biden's visit was political even though he said it wasn't. May be so, but your whole article is political in favor of Republicans. Let's not throw stones.

What is sointeresting, is that when someone points out the fact, that our Vice President is not telling the residents of Nevada the truth, all of a sudden the fact that he is lying is not the issue. In turn it becomes an attack toward the person that is pointing it out.
Somehow it gets turned around and the fact the our Vice President was not telling the truth becomes moote... Ah the glory of "The Emperor's Clothes" !!

Estela: That is the way that liberals attack, even when they have an argument they attack the person. They attack the messager not the message. Look what they do to Rush, Hannity and any other person who dares to call attention to mistruths of BO's admistration. Sherm is not immune. If I was Sherm I would wear these attacks as a "badge of honor".

RG: Sherm's statement above is not to support Republicans but to demonstrate the alleged falseness of the statements made by our VP. Sad that you do not see it....
