Last Friday President Barack Obama tried to wipe off the muck on his face after falling in it over ObamaCare by forcing religious institutions to sin in the form of providing free contraception and abortion services.
It's unknown just exactly what the president's new "compromise" deal is other than, magically, religious organization won't pay for the contracepttion/abortion services directly, but only indirectly.
You don't have to be quick-as-a-wink to figure out how that went over.
The U.S. Catholic church greeted the "compromise" as even more of an insult and a clear indication that this president doesn't get it when it comes to guarding freedom of religion and people of conscience.
(As an aside, Sen. Harry Reid has so far supported the president on this abortion stance. It further draws attention to what must be a widening gap between Sen. Reid and his church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.)
The Complete Las Vegan draws your attention to MSNBC's "Morning Joe" for an excellent discussion from both points of view. It's a few minutes long, so stick with it.
Toward the end you will find Jim Cramer chime in on a point that I figure will be a big issue as the year progresses: The negative effect ObamaCare will have on jobs and the economy. Cramer warns clearly that the primary promise of ObamaCare -- that it will be good for the people and the economy -- is likely not true. It's going to result in higher health costs, lower quality care and fewer jobs.
His vision of a new America is NOT my vision. And he's never wavered from his core beliefs. That's why we have such rabid posters, and a very protective MSM, that labors night and day, preventing the people from seeing this man as he really is.
But it's impossible to hide $TRILLION budget deficits, 4 years running, isn't it?
Seems you better wipe it off your face Sherman; The religious institutions' insurance will, in fact, be providing free contraception and abortions services after all. They just won't pay their fair share.
As far as ObamaCare; sorry, Sherman, (and xfmrh) you're wrong here, too. This year was the smallest increase in healthcare cost in the last 10 years; 4%.
You two are going to have to try serving a difference kind of right-wing cool aid to your easily fooled readers; you and Rush Limbaugh are just too easy to see through, nowadays.
Too bad Jesus kicked over the money-changer's stand in the temple, that throws a monkey wrench into the Ayran Rand philosophy of the like of Paul Von Ryan (who gets his insurance through the government.)
BTW what insurance company would insure you with your pre-existing conditions? Guess that is why the RJ has "Shermocare" for you.

Unless you enjoy living up to the stereotype of doddering old fools.

As person quoted in the above piece says: Obama administration “really can’t claim any credit unless it’s to say, ‘We broke the economy and you can thank us for that.’ ”
It will no money for schools and public safety and all going to increases in Medicaid cost.
thank you Reid and Obama and Dems
Talk about cool aid...

Also, our founders put the first amendment in our Constitution to keep establishing any religion that could tell us what we could and couldn't do. I personally have a serious issue with religions that have all men at the top of the hierarchy and then these men want to tell women what to do.
SHerm, would have us all return to a time when the insurance companies could drop you from coverage when you got sick, something "Obamacare" eliminated.
http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/new-study-health-care-costs-fall-when
You hear that Catholics.
Big Government wants to enslave you.
Freedom of Religion has just be nixed.
Big Government is now in chargge.
And...birth control pills are NOT just for contraceptives either--many women take them for medical reasons.
It is like saying to men "As a woman, I don't need PSA tests therefore why should they be covered or I don't take Viagra so why should they be covered?"
I have a suggestion--why don't we women gang together & not one woman would have sex with her husband until he is willing to say contraceptives should be covered. How soon would it take to get men to back down from their "holier than thou" attitude about contraceptiver. Thank heavens for all the men who are supporting the women's right to choose and be covered under health insurance--they are indeed saints!!!!!!!!
Reminds me Obama's budget. Since he didn't ask for a raise of 1 trillion dollars, his budget saves us a 1 trillion dollars? How is that savings? Only democrats think with such logic.
Abortion can be legal for medical well being of the mother, rape, and incest only, not out of convienance. People have a choice where to go for medical advice if you don't like the fact a catholic medical place doesn't like contraceptives then go somewhere else. Stop forcing your ideas on others like little democrat nazis.
So Mitt Romney is now against birth control. Let's see how the women of America feel about that.
Second point, 'ObamaCare.' How many of you here remember 'HillaryCare,' anyone? See, this is what Republicans do, they try to scare the hell out of people by pretending Hillary Clinton or President Obama are going to take-over your health care choices.
Does anybody see the irony in that the very same people who are trying to prevent women from receiving birth control now claim the OTHER GUYS are trying to take over your health care choices?
Here is why they did it, because the United States pays as much as 3 times more per person for health care than those damn French do, and the part that really pisses me off is those damn French live longer!!
But that is why these Democratic presidents, Clinton and Obama, made health insurance reform such a priority.
What are they doing right and we are doing wrong?
I will admit to not totally understanding why Republicans don't see this too? I mean, I'm a liberal Democrat but I don't believe Republicans want Americans to pay 3 times as much as the French do for health care and then live shorter lives. I don't quite understand that part of the equation.
Well, what a fine bunch of children you liberal posters are!
Don't you touch our contraceptives! ( don't want to touch it. I don't think it's my responsibility to pay for it!)
How is a woman suppose to afford $600 to $1200 A YEAR? (are you serious? Maybe they could cut out the Starbucks run, eh?)
And misdirect much, Mike Duffy? Should we ban any federal money from going to Syracuse or Penn State, too? But that is a totally different topic, isn't it?
And if the Church don't like what the State wants, too bad!(Who died and left you Catholics God, anyway?)
Wanna know why socialism doesn't work? Cause people get addicted to free stuff, get entitled (spoiled), and love it when someone else pays (but mostly they don't even think about the cost or someone else paying).
Kinda like children. And this country contains the most spoiled, privileged people that have ever graced this Earth. Medical costs 3 times everyone else? Maybe because our medical process would be considered miraculous just 40 years ago (when I was a young man), and still God-like compared to 75% of the world, right now.
Need a gallon of milk? A gourmet meal? A new car? A 4G cell phone with complete internet access (which is like having a library in your pocket)? Central A/C? And so on, and so on and so on.
Our POVERTY LEVEL would put people in the top ten% of their respective villages, in well over half the world TODAY. And yet, we want more. For free. Cause why should we pay for it? Look at all those rich fat cats that have all that money!
Like Madonna or Michael Moore. Oops, not them. Look at Mittens and Rupert Murdock and evil Republican millionaires! Get the money from them!
Grow up, already!
Oh its probably been removed of late. Too much burning and riots.
It would be: Can the government require a jewish run hospital to serve pulled pork sandwhiches to patients?
Customers can eat what they want that isnt the issue, it is government forcing them to do something the hospital doesn't believe in not the patient. The patient doesn't like it, go to another hospital that isn't WELL KNOWN to be against something. You little democrat nazies.
Big Government wants to do you a favor and all you need to turn over your life and your rights especially Religious Liberty to it.
Big Government got a pill for you and wants to shove it down your throat.
Hey, hey, hey, ho here comes Big Government.
"From ev'ry mountainside: Let freedom ring!"
to
"From ev'ry mountainside: Let Big Government ring!
Wait a minute, xfm, you said it "almost doubled." Seems you're selling the same cool aid as Fox, Thomas Mitchell, and the right wingers. Obama's Healthcare reform is saving money. Live with that fact. Just like SgtRock has to live with the fact that our government is not taking over religion. You guy have to stop watching Fox.
This is SgtRock with downright delusional hatred, without any clue as to actual Medicare costs or where Medicare or school taxes even come from; much less how they're spent. Just open, uneducated, hate. Fox and the RJ has done a real number on you.
Even more delusions! What do you people use for brains? President Obama and the Democrats have been so successful in our pulling our country back from the brink that Bush put us on, and succeeded in the present recovery; and overhauling of healthcare; that you're beside yourself in outright partisan hatred. Republicans in Congress have no legitimate arguments or goals other than simply vote against - or block - absolute everything they can, in hopes of the economic destruction of our country. It's nearly treasonous. It's mindboggling how delusional you are and how you've allowed Fox and people like Sherman to stir you up like this. "Democrats want to kill babies?" You're like dumb little sheep.
I gotta congratulate the Democratic strategist that came up with this plsn.
The Catholic church can't turn out a vote. Even their own followers will not vote for what the pedarasts tell them to.
Better yet, the vast majority of women support both freedom of choice. They just don't admit it to the patriarchs that try to enslave them.
This issue is a beautiful reversal of the Rove strategy to scare people into voting for the GOP incumbents when rove manipulated the terrorist threat levels to scare the morons in this country to keep putting Cheney in control.
This little gem of a tactic is going to wee wee up all the authoritarian goof balls to a point that the GOP will suffer the most catastrophic losses this generation.
So by all means... keep talking about forcing women to have babies they don't want and denying access to birth control.
Your futile attempts to drag the other 80% of America back to the dark ages will be the the action that finally crushes the GOP for the next several decades.
I offered facts; and that's what seems to make you mad and start your tirades.
Insurance cost went up THIS year and you continue to insist on last years stats.
Everything's going up. They would have gone up anyway. So you get delusional, again, and make phony charges about me; like I, "insist on last year's stats." No I didn't and you can show where I did. You're simply stuck with the fact you go with a phony 'stat' of, "healthcare doubled,' when it didn't.
You and the other wing nuts are waving your hands and screaming all sorts of partisan baloney you can't back up, like "Democrats want to kill babies!" "Democrats want the government to take over healthcare!" "Democrats HAVE taken over healthcare." "The economy is failing!" "Democrats are Nazis!" You refuse to use logic, or address questions and facts that people like Pete or I post. Then there's posters like Athos who make no sense at all, can't stay on point, and make such ludicrous charges that most of us no longer read him. You people simply can't address facts and figures that show you wrong. Just go back and look at the stupid statements made here. Or dodge it like you usually do.
He's the guy that helped write RomneyCare for Mittens, and then was the showpiece for ØCare telling everyone that ØCare will reduce our medical costs.
NOW he's saying he made a little mistake and neither will save us any healthcare money. Instead, the costs are going up cause people aren't behaving the way they should. (People USE the system to get more free stuff! Imagine that!)
Oh well. It's all Bush's fault, right?
I am talking about Medicaid.
You are talking about Medicare.
ObamaCrap soon will open the flood gates on Medicaid cost of which the states share a lot of the cost.
That will leave less money for schools and public saftey in states like Nevada.
Must be a lot of religion-hating Alinskyites in those places.
Our recovering economy; you simply won't admit to it. All the Republican presidential candidates promise to do is to cut our Social Security; Medicare; reverse our healthcare gains and give more tax cuts to the rich. Why would anybody vote against their own economic wellbeing? "Why can't the conservative side of our little community do any better than understand that?"
To bad Big Government Obama did not follow these examples. Instead, he wants to trample on religious and shove Big Government down the throats of Americans.
AZ, NC, West Viriginia allow exceptions or waivers to employers with religious objections.
GA does not require employers to buy insurance that cover contraceptives.
In Montana there are ways for churches and other religious instutions to get insurance that does not cover contraceptives.
Here comes Big Bad Government...and it wants to shove a pill down your throat.
START PACKIN Ø and MOOCHIE;)
You artards keep up the wanton self-destruction epitomized by the eloquence of the local racist drunk who always talks in caps.
By the way - I can't find any religious exemption in the Georgia statute. Can you? It is Ga. Code § 33-24-59.6 (1999).
If a woman gets pregnant, what is she carrying?...A baby or a thing? Is a baby alive?
Do democrats run up to pregnant women and say
"You are not carrying a baby but a thing. So you can kill a thing in clear conscience
if you want, we defend that 'choice' as your right to murder by abortion"
Now, brith control is totally ok in my book because it stops it before it stats.
And yes Jerry..Democrats attack on religious views, and thier force feed viewpoints eerks enough people to call you guys rabid brown shirt nazis. Beating people down until they agree with your elitist views. You don't even care how others view things. Flipin nazis.
"are muslims exempt?"
Really ugly stuff here.
(Wouldnt want to ever offend a muslim)
Gong!!!!!!! Wrong!!!!
Romney veto the Emergency Contraception bill and the Democrats overrode it. So thanks for pointing out AGAIN that the Democrats don't like religious liberty.
Ga. Code § 33-24-59.6 does not require any organization to purchase insurance that covers contraceptives.
U TOO HARRY AND BARRY;)
Will democrats just admit, they only agree with constitution when it fits their mood?
And the Catholic church is doesn't have to provide insurance for its employees that includes contraceptives.
So your rhetorical question is doubly misleading.
"Mitt Romney faulted President Barack Obama's original push to require church-affiliated employers to pay for birth control as an "assault on religion," but as Massachusetts governor, Romney was largely silent about a state law that required virtually the same contraceptive coverage. The Massachusetts law, which essentially mirrored Obama's proposal, was signed by Romney's predecessor in 2002, the year before he took office. Romney did not seek its repeal. "
"Mitt Romney has said the Obama administration is intruding on religious freedom by moving to require religious–affiliated employers to cover contraception services in their health insurance plans. When confronted with a similar law as governor of Massachusetts, Mr. Romney didn't raise objections on religious or moral grounds, say people who worked in his administration or in health care interest groups there. Rather, he viewed the contraception requirement more in economic terms, as only one of many costly "mandates'' that some believed were driving up the price of insurance and suppressing competition, according to these people."
"Further confusing voters on his position, Romney said he supported the use of emergency contraception by rape victims. “My personal view, in my heart of hearts, is that people who are subject to rape should have the option of having emergency contraception or emergency contraception information,’’ he said. ...
Google it!
“He is very consistent at working both sides of the street on the same issue at the same time. His record on this issue has been one of very cynical and tactical manipulation.’’
Delaying for 18 months implementation of specific rule applicable to a specific type of coverage is not as "waiver from Obamacare."
And, as I said, churches do not have to provide insurance to their employees that includes contraceptives.
except the Catholic Church and their stupid constitutional rights to freedom of religion.
Only if the churches just sold big macs!
there is now, and never has been a requirement that a church purchase health insurance for its employees that includes coverage for contraceptives.
Nobody has rebutted pentenyc, at least successfully, so I guess we will wait until some conservative comes up with a better argument than 'if only churches sold big macs.'
It is really that simple; Should all women have access to FREE BIRTH CONTROL, or will President Rick Santorum try to deny women, and men, that option?
And yes, I said FREE, because most insurance companies will pay the full amount for birth control because they know it is one helluvu lot cheaper to pay for birth control than to pay for all of the repurcussions of people not using birth control.
This is not a 'religious freedom' argument fellow citizens, this is a poltical argument about whether or not people have the right to obtain free birth control, the key word here being "free." No co-pay's or deductibles, free. And it turns out birth control ain't cheap!!
For example, when Aetna, or United Health, or any one of the giant insurance companies decide that paying 100 percent of the cost of birth control is cheaper and smarter than not doing so, thus making it "free" to the people being insured, this is a good thing for the insurance companies and for the people they insure. They all save money, how can that not be a good thing?
Yeager, there is no Free. Someone always pays. I don't want it to be me, or my kids. We'll pay for our own, thank you. (Davie-boy, you're cy-wars won't work this time, around. How do you sleep with yourself?)
Fooltool (btdt), Warren Harding did a brilliant job cutting spending during a terrible recession, and turned our economy around in 18 months. Jorge and Ø have simply bailed out there buds, with Ø propping up his voting base with taxpayer money. Someone's got to pay. The entire corrupt crony payola has got to stop.
Socialism won't work, children. Never has, and never will. Your way puts us in chains. Why don't just one of you tell us why you persist in this foolishness?
Let's see, Ø shut down drilling in the gulf, the Keystone pipeline, is quoted as wanting higher energy prices, gives tax breaks to millionaires buying Chevy Volts, and so on, and so on, and scuby dooby dooby.
How you fellas gonna spin that one, eh?
petey will say, "It's a lie! Gas prices have NOT risen! Prove it!"
Jerry will say, "It's Bush's fault!"
Fooltool (btdt) will say, "First you spend more at the pump which gives government more revenue to distribute into the economy so everything will improve! Don't you republican idiots know basic economy?"
Yeager will post what ever Plouffe tells him to post (cause he lives in West Virginia near Langley) but by then, Davie-boy will be in Betty Ford Rehab!
Jack Sprat will say, "I hate gasoline. I hate cars. I hate haters!"
And mrs. ed will say, "Good night, Wi-i-i-i-i-ilber."
What are you going to do?
What are you going to do?
The churches complained a lot about the bill that Romney veto and that the oppressive Religious Democrats overrode.
But they were pleased that Romney's admin created a loophole where they did not have to give emergency abortion pills to women who were pregnant.
A shocking violation of religious liberty, if you ask me.
Too early to think about that, Sarge.
However, bar none, he is the most anti-business president we ever had.
But you are OK with that?
Every politican in Congress, every person here would support their daughter if she was raped, impregnated and wanted to abort the pregnancy. Every single one of you. Yet Rick Santorum says this is really some sort of 'gift' and not a one of you says a word. Hypocrites, and your hypocrisy effects real women's lives.
Cause most liberals. here, have no problem wanting the government to take the money I earn and give it to whom ever benefits them the most (be it votes or kickbacks).
Obama's WH said the "stimulus" would bring unemployment down below 7% by now.
Obama promised to cut the annual deficit in half. It has instead grown.
He said four years ago if he can't get the job done in 3 years that he should be fired.
We should do that.
Actually, NO ONE knows how much money Bernanke has flooded into the system, cause NO ONE is auditing the Fed. But the National debt is climbing higher exponentially and when interest rates go up, so does the debt service payment.
All Ø cares about is getting 4 more years to "fundamentally transform" this country into a socialist paradise. Except there IS NO SUCH THING as a socialist paradise.
You do understand that, don't you, Jerry? If I borrowed $1,000,000, I could quit my job, buy a fancy car, throw outlandish parties and have a dramatic improvement on my lifestyle, right?
That is, until the lenders wanted their money back.
Get it?
Oh. I forgot you're a liberal.
Carry on.
and
What possible action can you sight that gives you confidence that current government involvement isn't driving up health care costs, now?
Reminds me of paying someone to beat you up. (Dirty Harry movie #1)
Athos, and others, STOP pretending you, or me, have control over where our tax dollars go. I don't like paying for George W Bush's war in Iraq but that is what happens when you pay taxes. So I don't care that YOU don't want to pay for free contraceptives, it is cheaper and better for women for insurance companies to provide birth control with no co-pay, so because it is better for women, I am all for it and I also could care less what you don't want to see your tax dollars paying for.
Someobody wrote something about 'burglarizing your home,' this is the same thing, we are being stolen from. The average Joe is being ripped-off and a select few are making millions because of the idiotic way we decide to make available good health care insurance in the richest country in the history of the world.
We have no control over where our tax dollars are spent? Why do you think Republicans have wanted to send DC LESS MONEY?
You idiots keep talking about free rides the rich get. It doesn't matter how much money we send DC, they'll still spend 40% more than they get!
And it would be nice if we enforced laws when these crooks steal our money. Oh wait, they're the same bunch that write the laws, aren't they?
There IS no free, Yeager. Someone pays. That's the difference between inalienable rights, and entitlements. We need to protect the former and reduce the latter.
Silly subversive!
