Oh My God!

U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle does it again. She grants an interview to a Christian radio station and spouts some religious stuff that not only makes her look politically bad, it gives people of faith -- like, say, our Founding Fathers -- a black eye.

The Associated Press reports: "In an interview with a Christian radio network, Angle describes her effort to oust Majority Leader Harry Reid as a religious calling in 'a war of ideology, it's a war of thoughts and of faith.'

"Reid, President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have pushed 'entitlement programs built to make government our God,' says Angle, who has called for privatizing Social Security and Medicare for younger workers.

"'What's happening in this country is a violation of the First Commandment,' Angle told Trunews in the April interview, which is posted on the network's website.

"'We have become a country entrenched in idolatry, and that idolatry is the dependency upon our government. We're supposed to depend upon God for our protection and our provision and for our daily bread, not for our government,' she said.

I'm not saying that she doesn't have a point about things being out of whack when it comes to the balance between personal responsibility and the role of government. And, yes, humans can put anything before God, thus ignoring the First Commandment.

But our government was created by men who believed in God. And they crafted the government to provide a common protection. That wasn't idolatry.

Expansion of that common protection to include things like Social Security, or even national health care (though I think it is a bad idea) is not necessarily idolatry.

Our government has gotten off track and I'm with Angle when she makes that point. It is not helpful, however, when she explains things like she did in this interview.

Sharron Angle says she prays to God every day for guidance in her "political walk".  My advice: Listen harder.

hooray for Sharon, she sees where the country is heading and doesn't agree with Obama and Harry that "the car is on the road and going in the right direction" Perhaps that's why we can suddenly see 3 to 5 Mil weddings and Obama's $30,000 birthday "gifts"? As for Sharon and her religion, well, I much prefer that to someone who has conversations with Elenore Roosevelt to get her insight on how to handle things; as does Hillary Clinton our current Sec of State. And who voted for Hillary to be Sec of State; look no further than Harry.

I think we miss the larger point, which is that Angle, like the former President Bush, believe that God chose them to run for political office, and that perhaps God is on her side, and is a Republican. (Not to mention an American).
Besides being extremely arrogant, it also provides license to take a reckless stand in the name of God, or at least, that twisted version of God who dislikes homosexuality and doesn't appear to be so loving or accepting, like not allowing rape and incest victim to have abortions, for goodness sake. It's just another piece of the puzzle that concludes that Angle is a fringe extremist, and not a good choice for running a bingo parlour, let alone the state of Nevada.

Way to go Sharon, now let’s bring on the End-Times ASAP so that we can end all this government interference and idolatry right now. That is what you and your god wants, is it not?

On one hand, she is being very honest which is not good for politican.

Reid only believes in bringing home the bacon to himself and his family who make millions in fees for their lobbying firms.

So one day he says he pro-life, supports Nevada ban on gay marriage and says he is pro-gun rights.

The next day, he is voting to expand abortion rights, giving speeches in front of gay groups and votes for anti-gun judges.

Somebody needs to tell her that she will represent the whole state including libs and people from all religions.

Ol' crazy Sharon! How dare she not hold back and only speak the politically correct! Don't her handlers know that politicians are elected only when telling lies long enough to get into office and then doing as they had planned all along once there? At least, that's what I've seen from the last 10 presidents or so.

Sorry mr. Linkletter. There are two adult candidates in this race that say the craziest things. The kids don't have a chance anymore.

Sharron angle could have easily glided into office if she even remotely attempted to connect to the moderates of this state but instead she's taken rather extreme right wing angles and seems too forget that not all of nevada is christian

Best hope she keeps her feelings about Christian Science to herself Sherm. Course, given that she doesn't really tell folks that she is really a HUGE supporter of that cult, I do wonder about her "honesty and integrity", but hey, that's just me.

The real problem is that Sharron Angle is right. Today's 'adult' can't handle the Truth.

And the sad fact that the Marxist crowd has been trying to remove God from our country as the preferred choice. Get people dependent on the Government, and they will worship the government.

"From Government, all things flow." All hail and praise Øbama, our Supreme Leader.

"Angle describes her effort to oust Majority Leader Harry Reid as a religious calling in 'a war of ideology, it's a war of thoughts and of faith.'"

Odd that she'd use the word, 'war.' This seems to be in keeping with Bush claiming his best friend was Jesus and that god told him to go to war.

Are you starting to figure out why the Republicans were voted out?

It is deplorable when the day comes that a person is ridiculed and chastized for daring to say that he or she is following a calling from God.

And to have the nerve to suggest that the ideal situation is that one parent of a two-parent family be able to adjust its finances so the children of the household can be nurtured and cared for by a stay-at-home parent.

Oh, yes, and then there's that awful position she has taken regarding people being able to invest at least a portion of their social security account as they wish, rather than letting Harry, Nancy and Hussein steal it and leave an IOU in its place, thus heaping even more trillions of debt upon our children.

And god forbid that she should believe in the sanctity of life. That is no doubt blasphemy where Reid's secular god of government is concerned. Think not? Just look at his voting record when it comes to pro-life nominees to the Supreme Court. Why, how dare Sharron Angle to think parents should be nurturing their children instead of killing them in the womb.

God bless you, Sharron, for taking the stand you are taking amid a sea of socialism that is capsizing this nation.

And, no, my name is not Union Dude. My name is Duane Washum.

Both Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Reid have spoken to the association of religion to this government and their particular approaches to living within their own religious beliefs. Never have either of them used their personal religious points of view to condemn this government of attempting to create itself as an idol representing the government being a form of "God". There is a vast difference here and any attempt to compare the two is simply ridiculous.
Sharron Angles handlers have now come out and stated this was a failed attempt at humor on her part. Does this appear to be a radio station or radio show where one appears to intending to pop a funny?

It is obvious even her handlers realize how insane this statement was.

The concept of government by man of man is well founded in the Bible as is the concept of paying taxes is recognized and deemed correct in Biblical standard.
Here are a couple of references one may want to consider when attempting to come from a position of misinformed piety concerning our governments responsibility in collecting taxes, governments right to collect taxes and governments use of those taxes to promote the general welfare of the people.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus makes it clear that tithing and taxes have their place and a government imposed tax is tantamount to a tithe.
The purpose of a tithe is to ensure that what when times get hard there will be stores in the warehouse for all.

Sharron Angle's use of God's words in such a twisted manner will come to rest on her when she stands in final judgment.

Sharia Sharron bin al Mangle wants to outlaw adoption of children by gays and lesbians. Assuming her reason is not simple homophobic prejudice, there can ONLY be one rational reason, i.e., that children are at unacceptably heightened risk under the care of homosexuals.

It necessarily follows then that she should publicly [1] advocate banning homosexuals from reproducing at ALL (and thereby becoming legal ex-utero biological parents), and [2] demand that children already in the adoptive custody of such people be forcibly removed, to take them "out of harm's way."

I'd love to ask her personally, in front of witnesses, about that, since the media are not going to get the chance, and probably wouldn't press her on it in any event. Certainly not this rag.

Go get em, BobbyGlad. You keep focusing on the BIG PROBLEMS facing our country today, like child adaption by gays!

That's putting things in perspective!!

We may all be under Sharia law, broke, and pennyless with no heat, electricity, or autos that anybody can afford; and health care that kills off the sick, but by good golly! we're on the right side of gay adoption!

I'm willing to bet you're not one of the 28% in Tom's new blog, are you?
