Well, isn't that special?

So, let me get this straight. After campaigning in 2008 vigorously making the point that the economy was bad — real bad — and the only thing that could save us was the "hope" and the "change" of a Barack Obama presidency, our dear leader tells us now that he really didn't understand how bad — real bad — it really, really was.

Well, isn't that special?

It's also not believable.

America lost 4 million jobs in the six months before he took office and 4 million jobs in the six months after he took office.

"So the die had been cast," he said, "and a lot of us didn't understand how bad it was going to get."

On the contrary, my dear sir. You, Mr. HOTP (Healer Of The Planet), told us during the campaign that America was in dire straits economically. You said you had the answer. Now you say that you really didn't get it, well, that's just too thin of an excuse that comes far too late in our misery that is the Obama first term. Your OJT presidency has made things worse.

He must have had the answer..the economy is doing better...even with the do nothing congress......just think how much better it would be if the repubs cared what happened to us and if we had a job or not....The only thing repubs care about are trust fund babies.....they don't have enough money yet and pay to much in taxes(a he!! of a lot less than I pay)Next year after he wins again and gets rid of the no nothing congress he will really be able to finish saving the economy.GO OBAMA...ps do you have a canidate yet??

Now nancy, you raise a very important question. How would the economy be doing if the Repubs were in charge?

What a difference three years make:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaQUU2ZL6D8

In February 2009, Obama complained interest payments consumed one out of every 10 dollars spent by the federal government and that was not acceptable. Obviously not, today interest amounts to four out of 10 dollars.

And the economy is not getting better because of Obama, but in spite of him and Harry Reid.

Sherm, Sarcasm and flunking economics do not make a good column. Perhaps if you spent less time praying to your imaginary friend and more time talking to knowledgeable people you would be far less ignorant.

And lying, deluding oneself, and being fitted for the chains of government don't make for a free man, Mark. Or do you think you'll be one of the overlords?

To extend on Shaffers comment... fat and stupid is no way to go through life (glances at local all caps drunk), nor is ignorant and misinformed.

The stock market is at multi-year highs. Uemployment is falling. The economy is recovering.

So the failed GOP and it's parrots (glances at Sherm and cowboy hat) must lie and fear monger in a desparate attempt to stay relevant.

I completely expect the parrots to start the dog whistle calls of fear the black man next since they are losing the argument on the economy.

@Thomas Mitchell, since you lost your job at the RJ, do you still read the RJ newspaper? I am skeptical. Today's RJ (a conservative publication) is full of good news about the improving national and local economies.

I love how you added 'Harry Reid' to your posts. Seems like you are unaware that each American state has two Senators. Never hear you hold Senator Ensign accountable for anything, just Senator Reid.

I question your journalistic credibility and objectivity given your deep and significant partisanship.

Mike.Duffy:

Questioning a former reporter for the rj about his "credibility" is like questioning a former reporter for Prava about his honesty; its good for a laugh but not much else.

But obviously the economy is doing well, and it would have been better but for some of the obstructions of the minority party; oh well.

The country is moving on, and even the republican party understands it; why do you think they have changed their campaign focus from the economy to issues like who buys their condoms?

They see the writing on the wall (at least the ones who are writing the checks to SuperPacs) and they know that this election is lost to them if they focus on the economy.

Watch for flag burning to be raised at a campaign issue for confirmation.

So, let me get this straight.

How many times do we have to get you straight, Sherman? Let's start with just one, simple, question. Do you know that the economy is improving? I can't find a right winger that will admit to it. Even Congressman John Boehner admits it's growing slowly. But we need YOU to actually admit to it. Go ahead, Sherman, lead your flock. See if you can 'get this stright.'

I mean, its not that I find it hard to believe, but has anyone seen the latest numbers about how popular the president has become in the last several months, or how unpopular the republican party has become.

The latest numbers show that in the last 3 months the presidents favorable numbers have zoomed past the 50% mark, and the republican candidates for president, ONLY among republican voters are at laughable highs.

Newt Gingrich has UNFAVORABLE ratings AMONG REPUBLICAN VOTERS OVER 62%!

Mitt Romney, has UNFAVORABLE ratings AMONG REPUBLICAN VOTERS OVER 60%

Rick Santorum (democrats are saving their ammo HOPING that he wins the nomination) has HIGHER unfavorable ratings AMONG REPUBLICAN VOTERS than he has favorable ratings among the same voters.

Yeah, this election is over, and the best the republicans can hope for now is that they are able, in what should be an overwhelmingly democratic electorate, able to prevent the democrats from overwhelming them in Senate and House elections.

What a joke that the far, far, far right has played on the republican party...and the country.

We will have the last laugh though.

This is just getting ridiculous; can't the far, far, far right wing do ANYTHING "right"?

"It's not even close: By a lopsided margin of 66 percent to 26 percent, Americans support President Barack Obama's proposal to require private health insurance plans to cover the full cost of birth control for women, according to a new CBS/New York Times public opinion poll.

Rephrasing the question to ask specifically about "religiously affiliated employers, such as a hospital or university," barely moved the needle, to 61 percent to 31 percent."

Oh well, guess we got to put up with another 4 years of a center right president; maybe he'll TRY and move the left EVENTUALLY.

Just...wow. The far far far right wing in this country has some SERIOUS problems, but the country can thank them for the damage that they've done because out of bad will come good.

"In hypothetical match-ups, Obama bests Rick Santorum 49 percent to 41 percent, Mitt Romney 48 percent to 42 percent, Ron Paul 50 percent to 39 percent, and former House speaker Newt Gingrich 54 percent to 36 percent, according to the survey, which was conducted from Feb. 8 to Feb. 13. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points."

Yep, "bring 'em on"

It is highly like that gas prices will be above $4.50 a gallon in Las Vegas and perhaps even over $5 this summer.

That also drives up the cost of everything else.

It will be a brutal summer for Las Vegas economy.

Obama will not survive that no matter how much billions he will raise for his campaign and no matter how much kool-aid the he dishes outs and lame media dishes out.

Hopefully Las Vegas will survive.

It is not going to be a nice year.

2) Threat of Iran War

3) The weaker the US dollar gets the more expensive imported oil is

BTDT. did you miss my posts over the last year or so?

I have been saying the Republicans are simply not showing up for this campaign for at leat that long as I posted many times on these blogs.
I have been saying Obama is re elected in 2012 all along and this post simply re states my prediction.

So we can agree on that, even if for different reasons.

The Senate we also agree and once again for different reasons

The house? now you have a long climb uphill there. Check this politifact story.
http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2012/feb/14/marco-rubio/majority-americans-are-conservative-marco-rubio-sa/

A good plurality of voters consider themselves conservative. 40% percent according to Politifact and that is the largest group of voters in the study so be carefull what you predict for the Congress.

I say again it will be very close and the house may lose some republican seats but the Senate may lose some more democrat seats.

xfmrhsd:

No I didn't miss your posts.

But there are serious questions about what Americans who identify themselves as conservatives "think" about various issues.

My belief is that the far, far, far right wing in this country has effectively manipulated vast numbers of Americans to believe that "liberal" is a word they don't want to be associated with so, they don't claim to be liberals and the far, far, far right wing can then use that word the same way they use "socialist" or "communist" or, whatever the ist word of the day is.

Its nonsense of course, and "a rose, is a rose, is a rose" so it doesn't really matter what an American calls himself, or what category they believe they are in for practical purposes.

Good answer BTDT. We will have some confirmation of that theory in November.

I believe the democrats in the Senate already have a smell of what's coming. Ben Nelson from Nebraska is a good example even though he was only a token Dem in that state. His retirement is a telling predictor of the Senate in the balance. Then we have Barney Frank (Happily Married now). Senators don't retire with out good reason. I think it was blowin' in the wind and they wanted out of the way.

November will show us which theory is correct.

It is fun playing pundit, lets meet again to compare notes in December ok?

"America lost 4 million jobs in the six months before he took office and 4 million jobs in the six months after he took office."

And what has happened since the George W Bush policies, and I'm glad even conservatives now have to acknowledge the catastrophic consequences of 8 years of Bush by pointing out this job loss but what has happened since then?

You conservatives probably don't know because Rush and Sean haven't mentioned it but what has happened since then is, rather than LOSING 750,000 jobs a month under Bush, last month we GAINED 260,000 private sector jobs. And if were weren't shedding public jobs because Republicans refuse to allow rich people to pay 1 penny more in taxes, despite seeing their wealth increase to levels most people can't even comprehend, our job gains would be even higher.

But I am really struck by how now, conservatives are now so desperate to defeat this president that they are willing to acknowlege what a complete disaster George W Bush was in losing jobs, 8 millions jobs lost in one year, because they think this might be some sort of indictment in something the president said.

You can try and make those kinds of distinctions all you'd like but the only thing people will remember is the 8 million jobs lost because of George W Bush.

Hmm, I'm watching O'Reilly, some guy name of Jesse Walters is doing a man on the street asking people, 'what has President Obama done to help the country?'

LOL, of course, the obvious answer to anybody is 'he killed Osama bin laden,' so Jesse quickly had to adjust and say "what is the second thing?" Loved that.

'What has President Obama done for the country, BESIDES killing bin laden?'

They finally decided on Fox News that after killing Osama bin laden, the best thing this president did was 'he is a pretty good singer.' LOL.

Sherm conveniently forgot that when Obama took office, the RATE of job loss was 750,000 per month. In a few months, Obama turned that around and we started adding jobs, and have for 24 months.

Face it Sherm, even though you and your right wing friends want to deny it, the economy is on the mend, and the American people know it. Obama saved the economy through bold moves like the profitable bailouts of GM and Chrysler. His approval rating is over 50% now, unemployment is dropping and the Republican candidates are a bunch of twits by comparison. Maybe you should get on the right side of this election...you might even keep your blogger job! You certainly can't afford another Angle-like debacle!

National debt was $10.6 trillion - now it's $15.3 trillion (it will hit $16 by the end of his first and only term in office)
Gas was $1.83 when he took office - now it's pushing $4.00 in some parts of the country.

I can vastly improve MY lifestyle with a loan of $1,000,000! That is, for a season, notacon. (Until Vinnie wants the money back....with the vig!)

In fact, give me a stimulus loan of $4 billion (@ 0% interest) I'll put it in T-bills for 1 year, pay the loan back and you'll never have to worry about me (or mine) again.

And if we did that for every American (all 310 million of us) we'd only need $3,000 QUADRILLION. And then we would all be eating lamb in Paradise.

Pvt Gay missed this part of the research: "Given our fossil-fuel dependent economies, this is more urgent and has a shorter time frame than global climate change," says James W. Murray, UW professor of oceanography, who wrote the Nature commentary with David King, director of Oxford's Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment.
The "tipping point" for oil supply appears to have occurred around 2005, says Murray, who compared world crude oil production with world prices going back to 1998. Before 2005, supply of regular crude oil was elastic and increased in response to price increases. Since then, production appears to have hit a wall at 75 million barrels per day in spite of price increases of 15 percent each year.
"As a result, prices swing wildly in response to small changes in demand," the co-authors wrote. "Others have remarked on this step change in the economies of oil around the year 2005, but the point needs to be lodged more firmly in the minds of policy makers."

There was a couple of trillion lost on the outrage that was the Iraq war, just because Bush had daddy issues. You never said jack about that. By the way, the bank bailout happened under Bush, you know, the one who ruined the economy so that he could give tax breaks to his buddies down at the country club..

Sorry, Sherman, you still have no credibility. Not until you admit the economy is improving. Even John Boehner has, reluctantly, finally admitted it: "The economy is slowly improving, but….." You can do it, Sherman. Post it here. Answer the challenge. Reply for a change. Admit the economy is improving. Just once, in one of your blogs. Anybody? Hello?

Well, now you come to heart of the matter, notacon. Am I upset when Rumsfeld said he can't account for $2.3 TRILLION that was spent at the Pentagon (press conference 9/10/01)? Yes. It's further proof that these thieving politicians and bureaucrats are enriching themselves at the expense of the taxpayer (and future taxpayers!)

So where do you stand, notacon? Does liberal theft balance out conservative theft? Or are you as upset over Ø's bankrupting the US policies as you were over the evil Dick Cheney's theft?

To provide a stimulus and deficit spending during an economic crisis in an attempt to improve the economy is justified Athos, blatent stealing for defense contractor buddies is not.

nancy.....you actually watch FOX. Congratulations - you are smarter and more informed than the typical, brain dead leftie.

notacon, Ø's Stimulus ($863 billion) was a grab bag, democrat-dream, make work plan that was worse than digging holes and filling them back up, again. Are you sure there wasn't any thieving going on with all that money? (Solyndra ring a bell?)

And Uncle Ben Bernanke is still printing money. The $7.7 Trillion I mentioned earlier, is from over a year ago.

And what makes you confident that the Military Industrial Complex has stopped stealing money now that Ø and Panetta are in charge?

Someone admitting they watch Fox? A company that when to court in order to force their news people to lie? And won!

"Someone admitting they watch Fox? A company that when to court in order to force their news people to lie? And won! "

Either Jerry

a) Doesn't know what he is talking about

b) Is lying

So cite something Jerry to back up your claim.

I know this story.

So I don't think Jerry is lying.

He is just reading some blog sites that either:

a) Don't what they are talking about

b) Are lying

c) Both

The answer is C.

Jerry is just being a sucker.

So Jerry cited something.

Was it an actual solid news site?

Nope... it was some blog site ran by some guy sitting in his mommy's basement who cites other blog sites ran by guys who live in their mommies's basements.

Can't you find one legit news source to cite?

What is also funny is this citation includes an imaginery conversation.

Here are some facts to chew on Jerry.

1. The lawsuit was against about Fox News Co but it was filed against some local TV station in Florida that is owned by Fox Corp. which are two totally different entities

2. The lower court dismissed all the plantiff's case except one part

3. The appealette court dismissed the last part not because it stated that news organizations can lie but because the last part did not cite an actual law for its basis

4. Neither the lower court or the higher courts ever ruled that local TV station engaged in any lying.

Now go and find a legit news source and not some blog commentary sites.

It is silly to cite some blog site that some guy runs in his underwear sitting in his mommy's basement.

Now you're just dodging. I've embarrassed you with facts you didn't know and now you're cornered. Fox was taken to court about forcing their employees to lie. Not only did the Fox employees file suite in Florida and win; but Murdoch took it to federal court and he won. Now Fox can force their employees to lie. Kind of startled you didn't it. Because of that case, Canada forced Fox to change their name from The News Channel, to, The Entertainment Channel. Something else you didn't know.

Now tell us that you continue to watch Fox; even though you know they can force their news people to lie to you.

Learn to lose. Sgt, you're getting good at it.

And that's not the only time Fox forced employees to lie. Here from the NY Times:

Again you are grapsing for straws Jerry.

Just because somebody accuses someone of something in a lawsuit does it make it true.

In neither cases, the courts never ruled that Fox Corp forced anybody to lie.

But at least you cited something better then some blog cite this time.

You get 2 stars for effort.

I keep re-reading that '8 million jobs lost in the 6 months before he took office and 6 months after,' to PROVE that President Obama just should have known what a complete disaster George W Bush left the economy.

You are half right Sherman, George W Bush did leave his predecessor the worst economy since FDR took over for that other Republican disaster, Herbert Hoover, but the part you got wrong is what this administration actually knew when they took office. Government revises their statistics all of the time, in this case the CBO did say the economy was in worse shape than previously thought when this president first took over. They also explained exactly how much of over a trillion dollar a year deficit this president was saddled with is actually the fault of the economic policies of George W Bush.

But look, at this point, can't we all agree the economy is getting better, more jobs are being created? Isn't that a good thing? Isn't that the very reason this president deserves 4 more years? Or do we want to go back to the economic policies which helped lose 750,000 jobs every month, Republican policies?

Again you are grapsing for straws Jerry.

I grasp at nothing. I stated irrefutable facts - some of which you didn't know.

Just because somebody accuses someone of something in a lawsuit does it make it true.

But, as this case, it was proven to be true. And like they said in court, "Case closed."
