Where in the world is Harry Reid?

In the "All Is Fair" file folder, Republicans are more than happy today to tell you that Harry can be found today not in Las Vegas, or Reno but in ... drum roll please ... San Francisco.

You can find his schedule this week at the Party Time Web site, which is one finely sliced information portal. In fact, I'm willing to say right here and right now that if you've been to this Web site more than once this week and you're not either a professional political writer or a campaign staffer, you have a political addiction for which you should seek help.

And Republicans said: “Rather than tending to the 76,000 Nevadans who lost their job last year, Senator Reid has opted to spend two days in San Francisco – which unlike Searchlight or Vegas probably feels more like home to him – so he can raise more money for his floundering re-election campaign.  With an unemployment rate consistently hovering around 13 percent, what the people of Nevada need is a full-time Senator who is focused on creating jobs for them."

To which The Complete Las Vegan said: For all the gripes that can be listed about Harry Reid, this seriously can't be in the top 100. But it does effectively reinforce one of the major themes the GOP would like to bring to the forefront this election season: Harry Reid is a resident alien of Nevada who gets more support out of the state than he does in the state.

That's why this item goes in the "All Is Fair" folder. And you can bet that Democrats will use the same theme against Sen. John McCain in Arizona.

Obama said, "Don't go to Vegas." Harry Reid took it seriously and went to San Francisco. He can team up with Pelosi, while he is there. The dynamic trio.

Sherm, I don't get it.

Paragraph two of your above post says that anyone visiting your blog more than once a week, who is "not either a professional political writer or a campaign staffer", has a "political addiction" and "should seek help".

So I'm wondering, are you trying to discourage those who are not political writers or campaign staffers from visiting your blog ?? Do you think by doing so you'll reduce the number and high percentage of comments that consistantly disagree with your post's ??

If your unhappy with all of that, it seems to me a better way would be to just discontinue the blog. But I don't think you can have it both way's, by first advertising it in your newspaper,(including your new picture) then critizing those who read it.

Doesn't that seem a little strange to you Sherm ?? Probably not. Oh well.

Don, I'll give you the excuse of 1000's of web pages a day has rendered us "skimmers", but it should be fairly clear your post was an epic fail.

I'd read the content again.

Good for you Sherm. What hypocrisy for Harry to go to San Francisco of all places for a fund raiser. This is akin for Scott Brown (R, Mass Senator) in going to Dallas Texas for a fund raiser, which of course, he didn't. Can you not see how the Dems would be crying foul from the roof tops if that had happened, so like where are they when Harry goes to SAN FRANCISCO.. Isn't that in California? Like about as far left coast as you can go? Keep it Harry,,, you are making it too easy!

I can't comprehend it !!!

Anybody besides me think it odd that Harry Reid has never held a regular job, but is a millionaire? Since he was raised in a mining shack in Searchlight by dirt poor parents, I don't think he inherited it either. Politics for the people, or for the money?

I wonder how naïve one must be to believe a senator must be in Washington, DC, 24-hours a day, in order to do their job properly. Which leads me to ask, just where does Publisher Sherman Frederick live?

1.What,exactly is hypocritical about Reid going to San Francisco?2.I would say that Harry Reid has had a pretty regular job and if he is in fact a millionaire is that automatically some sort of a crime in the eyes of the rightists?

Harry Reid is a textbook example of the Peter Principle on Steroids. Harry needs to follow Evan Bayh's example. He's just too set in his ways to get back to the constitutional way of running this country.

On the bright side, he has made his millions (the ends justify the means!), like all politicians that go to DC for any length of time. And we really should have a referendum on how we feel about Harry, come November.

And jack, if you don't see what's wrong with Harry making millions off the public when he's in charge of a $3+ Trillion budget, then let me dial you in. It's morally wrong, it's a breach of what used to be considered the public trust, and is all too commonplace in current DC (and Carson City for that matter!)

Harry might be morally right or wrong to make his his millions but not any more than those doing the same thing in the banking, insurance,or oil companies. This is all to common nationwide.

Okay Athos, "Its morally wrong" its a breach of the public trust....fine

Now, give me your solution...really, I want to hear your solution. What do we do ?? Not only what do we do, but how do you suggest we do it ??

Your full of what's wrong,... but you never suggest solutions....

I want to hear your solutions...and don't give me your usual generalities, I want to hear something concrete from you for a change.

Don, how about term limits for all politicians?

How about an informed electorate send people to Washington and stop spending money on cradle to grave security?

How about no more bank bailouts, car bail outs, insurance company bail outs, unemployment bailouts, free food give a ways, ethynol subsides, green jobs, epa, dept. of education, etc?

How about the federal government stop infringing on States rights? How about the people of this country taking responsibility for their own lives, instead of looking to some suit in DC to nursemaid?

How about we put Nature's God back into society?

Look, Posters; the Republicans screwed up for 8-years. They started an unnecessary second war; enlarged government; let Wall Street run amok; spent like crazy; enlarged the national debt by nearly $12 trillion and the American public sent them packing.

Now the Democrats are fixing the Republican errors; saved us from a depression; trying to stimulate the economy; pulling us out of a recession; and trying to govern a nation around some very bitter, obstructionists, Republicans.

These postings are just Sherman looking for something to whine about: "Obama bowed to somebody." "Obama has to read his speeches." "Reid didn't get our state enough money." "Harry Reid went to San Francisco." GASP! Harry went to San Francisco? How shameful!

Listen, Sherman, learn to lose. Now how about trying to help our country recover; rather than obstructing it every way you can?

Just like I knew you would Athos....you made one valid suggestion...Term limits...

"Informed electorate" -- Generalization -- assuming the only informed voters are you and your kind...

"Bank Bailout".."car bailouts"...etc...
Generalizations -- shotgun criticism offering no options for solution.

"people of this country taking responsibility for their own lives" --
Complete generalization...no specifics, total hysterical, frenzied, rhetoric.

"Nature's God" ?? I won't even take a guess at what that means..

Your a fool Athos and everytime you post a comment you prove it.

So now Reid isn't allowed to fundraise?

Tark is getting tons of his cash from Fresno, Lowden's getting tons from out of state as well.

Chachas lives in NY.

Where's your feigned outrage at the Republicans? Oh wait, you're a partisan hack, forgot, sorry.

Uh, Sherm, been to Flagstaff again lately on the money you saved from furloughing R-J employees? And you're knocking Harry Reid, who didn't run off to Hawaii to further his career but has stayed in the state or served it all his life?
Written by: Insider on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at 8:03 PM -- Report abuse
It's ok you can't understand what I mean, Don. Just smoke a little more weed and keep coming up with those pithy comments.

You may want to google Nature's God, and inform yourself. Might be handy some day.

Insider, how much better off would the state of Nevada, and for that matter, the United States be, had Harry run off to Hawaii, and stayed out of Nevada politics?

Too many more "servants" like Harry Reid, and our country will look like the Soviet Union circa 1960.

Well Athos, I googled "Natures God"...What a bunch of mumble jumble....

You need to get off the pipe Athos...
