Battle Now Born: Reid takes heat in YouTube ad

Solemn, ominous, devastating. Those are words I’d use to describe the black-and-white YouTube advertisement now surfacing about Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The ad is a prelude to an all-out war against Reid that attempts to tie the Senate powerhouse to failing to use his political clout to save Nevada from feeling the devastating blows of the recession.

It’s titled, “Who’s looking out for Nevada?”

Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2tG3eFhh68.  The video is also embedded, below.

For my money, this is another sign state Sen. Mark Amodei is about to come out of the shadows and declare his candidacy as a challenger to Reid. Although attorney Danny Tarkanian has already declared, and departing state GOP chairwoman Sue Lowden is seriously considering running, Amodei has superior credentials and ought to send Team Reid into Battle Stations mode.

Someone is making a major announcement on Sept. 9. Or, 9-9-09, as the ad darkly puts it.

I have never found simple writing on the screen in a visual medium to be either powerful or devastating. It's boring and it's lazy. If this is the work of someone ready to run against Reid, he'll need to hire a much better media consultant.

It's clear that you don't like Reid. In fact, there isn't much to like. But this add is not in any way devastating or powerful. The information is both devastating and powerful, but the add itself is a dud.

I don't trust Harry Reid. And neither should you. But this ad is especially devastating. It's only working because the RJ is throwing it's weight behind it. Let's watch and see whether the lemmings in TV jump off the cliff over it. Then it might do some damage.
One thing's for sure: whoever is behind it better be squeaky clean. Harry doesn't play fiar. Indictments and charges are coming.

COULD SOMEONE IN 'research' PROVIDE THE CORRECT & CURRENT "NV APPROVAL RATINGS" FOR US Senator Harry Reid? It is UP TO - or - DOWN TO 30% - last I heard? EH? ;-) No wonder he headed North into Utah for a fund-raider underwritten by nuclear waste mavens EnergySolutions! The casinos' deep pockets have been closed, methinks! Dare we hope = "Film @ Eleven, Channel 8"?

The next time I hear some imbecile say "Take back our government" I am going to throttle them!

Take a civics class and learn something. You 'take back' your government by organizing an effective party and political campaign, then get enough votes to win. It's simple democracy.

You birther/townhall nutjobs/ doctor murdering scum are in the very small minority. Bunch of whining cry babies hiding their racism behind some kind of fake patriotism.

Get lives please.

I am a Democrat. I voted for Reid and President Obama. I know that its the sole purpose of the Republican Party to take down the leader of the opposition ( uh, Tom Daschle). So, here is Reids turn. He should have seen this coming though. Someone needs to give someone some credit for apparently taking down Yucca Mountain ( Which mysteriously gets virtually no press coverage) If McCain had been elected, that nuclear waste would have been here already ( and yes, driven through our streets, as long as it didnt go through Arizona) With that being said though, for us to have this high of unemployment, and for us to be 50th in stimulus money, is unexcusable. I am a working man with a family and I honestly have seen zero personal impact from any stimulus money. What I mean is, I dont have any actual evidence that it even exists. Of course, some customers may be in my place of business because of stimulus money, but I cant be sure. Either way... Elected Officials need to remember about the constituents. Dont get too caught up in Washington Hoopla ( or having sex with your advisors wife... Oh yeah.. you are next).

I don't particularly care for Harry Reid's politics, but let's be realistic....no one can save Nevada, or any other state or person, from feeling the devastating blows of the recession.
Give the guy a break; even if it's not deserved and quityurbitchn.

Why do posters rant on Reid?

Harry Reid does not run your gaming community. He does not own any nightclubs, or tattoo parlors.

He does not discipline your children in the home, and make sure they complete their schoolwork. He is not the one spending idle time in the slot areas, searching for a sleeping giant of a machine. Reid is not raising gangbanger children. Reid is not the person who wrote all the mortgages in Nevada that should not have been offered and accepted, nor did he build all the homes, on land sometimes acquired through funny money and stroke. Blame Reid, or ACS, for UMC? Gee, who is going to be the next LAcey Thomas-scapegoat. How can you blame Reid for UNLV's football wins, or frictions ongoing, from Rogers to the recent past President. I bet Harry Reid secretly built City Center too (!), which forced a lot of you to work harder for less, for some time. Or maybe it will cost you your job at another property next year. Reid is why Stations went bankrupct, and the Herbst Casinos. He's the reason Jim Gibbons is governor too, and probably set John Ensign up with his tryst. If it weren't for Harry Reid, Nevada could adequately fund public education! Harry is also the reason banks don't pay taxes, too, though they have no problem lending money to casinos.

The problem some people have in Nevada with Harry Reid is he is not like them, he doesn't have THEIR QUALITIES. So, they don't get him. But, he is supposed to GET THEM, by going to Washington and GETTING THEM all kinds of FREE, UNATTACHED help from forty nine other states, many without Nevada's problems.

It is a trojan downloader. Once it gets on your computer, it will try to download a keylogger and steal your online financial user ID's and PW's.

It would be a public service to the community if the RJ would remove the link. Youtube certainly will be.

Written by: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED on Thursday, Sep. 03, 2009 at 1:47 PM -- Report abuse
It is stupid of me to write this to our brainwashed public but I think it needs to be said. It may even be censured by the RJ. My problem with Harry Reid is that he is just plain stupid or another of our professional lawyer/politicians who doesn't care what he does as long as it helps get him elected. I don't think he is stupid.

How soon will it be before the polar ice melting causes runaway global warming? Or the loss of thousands of square miles of Canadian forests and our tropical rainforests? Or the release of billions of tons of methane from the no longer frozen tundra? Florida has had it's first loss in population partly because hurricane insurance is skyrocketing.

One part of the fight should be the use of nonpolluting energy. France gets about two thirds of its electricity from nuclear power. How many deaths there compared to coal mining here? Computer and tech advances make a nuclear meltdown unthinkable today. Harry Reid claims our nuclear waste is safer scattered across the country in the middle of cities with 45" per year rainfall than isolated at NTS with 4" of rainfall. Shipping containers have survived a 120 mph locomotive crash test. Harry Reid has lost thousands of jobs for Nevada and helped put nuclear power on hold because of the myths he has created for his political agenda.

To me Harry Reid is the worst kind of person, a lawyer/politician that will say or do anything to get reelected. I might forgive him if he were just stupid but I don't think that is the case.

Now you have someone else to bash, fire away.

“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16-17

Written by: 13:16-17 on Thursday, Sep. 03, 2009 at 2:09 PM -- Report abuse
According to the Scriptures, the "mark of the beast" is received on the right hand or forehead. With modern technology, it is very possible that this mark may be directly linked with a computer chip. But regardless if it is or isn't, everyone who is living immediately before the return of Christ will be forced to take this mark in order to buy or sell anything:

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Rev. 13:16-18).

Remember all that "Change" we voted for back in Nov?

Is there a way to return Obama, Pelosi, and Reid and get our old, reliable, George Bush back? He may not have been a rocket scientist, but at least I was sleeping much better at night.

I don't trust Obama, Reid, and Pelosi and I am also getting a very bad feeling about what is happening.

His son is going to be worse; because he's starting earlier down this road. Yesterday during a hearing on the last item for the zoning meeting,Commissioner, and Chairman of the County Commission- Rory Reid made statements (as evidenced by the audio minutes) to the effect that he does not support business's rights in Nevada, either. The junior Reid sponsored the drafting of an ordinance that contains language specifically barring businesses in the CMA, including along the 215 beltway from having EMC signage that's large enough to even be legible from the beltway. When asked why he would have language stating no party could even apply for a waiver or variance to the standards of the ordinance, while NRS statutes spell out that an aggrieved party's only recourse in the event the County or Township refuses to hear their appeal on such a zoning matter is to file a lawsuit in District Court, seeking Judicial review. Understand--that means filing a lawsuit against the County just to get the County to hear their appeal. The Jr. Reid's response? 'It's a free speech matter. If we approve a request for waiver or variance for one party, but deny another; we could be seen as violating their freedom of speech.' Hasn't the mere process of applying for a waiver or variance indicated that there is a potential for either approval OR denial? I believe what his staff stated to us over a period of months, as well as what they stated on the record: He is tired of having to hear requests for waivers for signs. So, in other words, he's happy to hurt CMA businesses, employers and sales tax contributors so that he doesn't have to deal with one of the things we pay him a salary to do as Commissioner. He's the Chairman!

I think this ad gets to the heart of what most real people (not political junkies) think about Reid. The general idea is that Reid is too much into national politics and does not care about his home state. What good is the head of the Senate when nothing at home gets done? Give me someone who wants to improve the Nevada situation, not make just Obama look good.

They can't identify themselves, they can't stand up like and act with a modicum of class, grace or courage, they just crawl out of the sewer and then duck right back in like the garbage they are.
