Charlotte zings Reid from beyond the grave

Election 2010 has just heard from a member of the Silent Majority.

You know, from a deceased person.

Chances are good you never met Charlotte McCourt during her 84 years, but I’m willing to bet you’ll be hearing about her in the coming days now that her obituary has taken Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to task. It’s the kind of small story that has the potential to ricochet like a bullet through the campaign showdown between incumbent Reid and Republican challenger Sharron Angle.

Not because McCourt, who died July 8 after a long illness, was a political player or business powerbroker, but precisely because she was neither of those things. She was a homemaker, proud mother and grand mother and wife of 67 years to Patrick McCourt.

And she was at one time a loyal supporter of Harry Reid.

Her obituary, printed in Tuesday’s Review-Journal, reads in part, “We believe that Mom would say she was mortified to have taken a large role in the election of Harry Reid to U.S. Congress. Let the record show Charlotte was displeased with his work. Please, in lieu of flowers, vote for another more worthy candidate.”

Ouch.

McCourt was born Dec. 25 in Wellington, Utah and was a 40-year Nevada resident. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Perhaps by coincidence, Reid’s re-election hangs in no small part on his ability to encourage conservative and religious Democrats to support him. He is also a member of the LDS faith.

Harry Reid is savior and messiah of America. All bow to your mighty majority leader and stand in awe, for he cannot do wrong. He will end all suffering, create jobs from his behind, and save kittens from burning buildings. All while we cast ballots as tribute. Come raise your children to except debt as a cost of birth in America. Come kneel before your employer for we will be destined to servitude to pay taxes. Come vote Reid for this to never change.

I would like to make everybody aware how Harry Reid 'takes care of Nevada Families' - According to an article in The Washington Examiner entitled 'DRUG LOBBY SHOWERS MONEY ON ITS HERO HARRY REID' (July 7, 2010) that after a WHITE HOUSE meeting on July 22, 2009 the drug companies agreed to support ObamaCare because Harry Reid bribed them with the promise that they can charge the American people any price they want for drugs and prevent Americans from buying those same drugs at a much cheaper price in Mexico and Canada!!! Isn’t it nice to know that Dirty Harry can BRIBE the drug companies in addition to BRIBING senators and unions!!! The price - the drug companies had to fund Dirty Harry's re-election campaign - to date the DRUG PACs donated $500,000 and fund all his TV/Radio Ads!!! Now why this is NOT front page news on the RJ or headline story on the LOCAL NEWS only leads me to believe the Dirty Harry has the media in his pocket and by the B**LS. Also according to Investor’s Business Daily an Annual Report of the Social Security Board of Trustees which for the last 20 years published it yearly report in late April or early May is mysteriously being delayed until late November - Now what happens in early November - Oh Yeah an ELECTION. How Convenient - the church lady would say!!!! The genius team of Obama/Reid/Pelosi does NOT want the American people to know about the future of Social Security and Medicare - especially since Reid cut Medicare by $500 billion when he bribed his way to pass ObamaCare.
That's why Nevada will toss him and his son out of office this November - the Reid’s will have a nice Thanksgiving -everybody will be home with no place to go!!!!

Charlotte McCourt was a force of nature she stood for all things that were right and just, she was not just a strong supporter of Harry Reid she was his manager when he first started to run for the U.S. Senate, she help him win.
But she was very unhappy with him and the fact that he has forgotten the people of Nevada and who his employer's really are.

Wow. It's rumored that Karl Marx repudiated communism on his deathbed. I guess when faced with Your Maker, the truth comes to us at last.

God Bless Charlotte and condolences to her family.

This lady would have been REALLY furious, if she had taken the time to read the law.

How many of you have bothered to look up the legal definition for "Exempt income" that is ALREADY WRITTEN into tax law?

WHAT IS TAXED . COM

Funny that it takes a computer scientist just two minutes to find something that thousands of tax "experts" won't even bother.

Wake up, Slaves.

Thanks so much to all the elitists, leftists and suckers who donated to the Searchlight Fund and propped up this treasonous enemy of the state. Harry Reid cares more about his own power than the defense of our nation or the general welfare of its citizens. Don H. Pittsburgh, PA

It is no coincidence that Reid's re-election is dependent on the conservative and religious vote. That certainly has helped him in the past. He has lost it in more ways than one. He should have thought of this when he was ramming the atrocious health care and other Obaminations down our throats.

Condolences to the McCourt family on the loss of your mother.

Note to the grieving McCourt family. Be sure to have this lovely lady's voter registration purged or she might be the deciding vote in favor of Reid.

I cannot speak for the people who support or oppose Mr. Reid, I can only speak for myself. I do however, have a nasty habit of contacting members of congress and letting them know my feelings on the issues and the words and actions of ALL members of Congress. For example I recently called Senator Baucus's office to express my displeasure at his fouling up portions of the health care bill, and I did the same for John Boehner when it was announced that he supported raising the Social Security Retirement age. Oddly enough, I have never expressed discontent to Mr. Reid, nor his House counterpart Ms. Pelosi. Why? Because every time I call their offices and even start to express an idea contrary to the DNC party line or anything critical of Obama, they either immediatly switch me to voice mail or simply hang up.

I do not get this treatment from Mitch McConnell, nor from Mr. Boehner's office.

So I have to wonder...is the pressure of leadership too much for Mr. Reid and Ms. Pelosi to bear, or are they just a pair of arrogant jerks who have no interest in hearing reality from the people?

It would be interesting to know exactly WHAT displeased her. I did not know Ms. McCourt and hope that I have the class not to speculate on what and why she felt as she did, or even whether she should have felt as she did. That doesn't seem to stop others from writing here in a way that strikes me as antithetical to the faith to which Ms. McCourt and Senator Reid belong, but maybe I expect better from those who pray on Sunday.

Here in Chicago, we democrats depend on the dead as a strong voter base and always have.

If Harry can't even get this constituency to line up behind him, he really is a goner. If he scares them away from the polls, we might also lose Obama next election.

Tell Harry that he needs to spend more time working with dead people to shore up partisan support with these loyal democratic voters!

Someone needs to start making and handing out bumper stickers and posters that say...

"I'd vote for a Dead Dog before I'd vote for Harry Reid."

You could use a roadkill icon (a flat dog with two x's for eyes and tongue hanging out) to make the point.

As it catches on you can put all the other democrat names being thrown out in November on these stickers.

Pity that people like to bash the incumbent. If it wasn't for Harry Reid, we wouldn't now have a health care system that stops people being bankrupted at a young age when serious illness strikes. Our old health care system was the worst in the western world. Even our new one is still far from ideal.

And, if Mormons had any sense, they would realise it is to their advantage to have a prominent Democrat who is also a member of their church. He is a great balancer for the slew of Republican politicians who claim allegiance to the Mormon Church. Mormonism=right wing extremism as far as many people are concerned. Having Harry there shows that they're not all that weird.

Mark.Gallo, once again...

"According to an article in The Washington Examiner entitled 'DRUG LOBBY SHOWERS MONEY ON ITS HERO HARRY REID' (July 7, 2010).........Now why this is NOT front page news on the RJ or headline story on ch 8 only leads me to believe the Dirty Harry has the media in his pocket and by the B**LS."

I'd love to read this article, thanks for not supplying a link to back up your lame rhetoric.

You really what to know why this isn't being reported in the RJ or ch 8? OK.

The Washington Examiner is owned by one of the world's richest men, Philip Anschutz. The Examiner's parent company, Clarity Media Group, also owns the conservative opinion magazine, The Weekly Standard.

http://billionaires.forbes.com/topic/Philip_Anschutz
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Weekly-Standard-sold-to-Washington-Examiner-parent-company-48275582.html

Hmmm...a paper owned by the rich conservatives? No bias there. Wait, there's more!

When Anschutz started the Examiner in its current format, he envisioned creating a conservative competitor to The Washington Post. When it came to the editorial page, Anschutz’s instructions were explicit — he wanted nothing but conservative columns and conservative op-ed writers. The Examiner added more conservative writers and columnists, including Byron York, Michael Barone, and David Freddoso.

"We believe..."

Did Charlotte McCourt have it in writing anywhere that she was "mortified to have taken a large role in the election of Harry Reid to Congress"?

What, did her children stop speaking to her after dumping her in a home? They believe? They don't know? She was alive for 84 years, and her own family doesn't know for sure how she feels about the subject?

Sounds like a despicable way to use sympathy for someone's death for political gain. Has anyone seen Karl Rove lately?

If you don’t think that campaign managers are important, you are a political neophyte!

She was evidently DYMAMITE because she got this worm elected!!!

Incidentally, pretentious is NOT spelled pretensious!

There is no justification for the headline in the story!
The obituary quote within the article reads in part "we believe Mom would say..." and that makes it clear that Charlotte (Mom) is not the writer of the obituary! The writer of the obituary then states "Let the record show Charlotte was displeased with his work. Please, in lieu of flowers, vote for another more worthy candidate.". Mr Smith, journalism is indeed dead! You have attributed the opinion of the children to the deceased mother and not backed it up at all!!

Snoopy was correct.
Mort is death and all forms of the word (mortify or mortified or mortification) includes death as a meaning.
If you do not believe so, then you had best find a better (more comprehensive) dictionary.

The article was written correctly. Your charge that these are not Charlotte’s feelings implies that you have more knowledge of Charlotte’s thoughts than her own children.

You do not have a history of closeness with Charlotte. Neither do you have any evidence that her children have a history of telling lies.

Therefore, we can accept that her children’s interpretation of their mother’s feelings must stand. There is nothing to be gained by denying her closeness to Harry Reid.

Her children have credibility until they are proven incredible. Your opinion has no weight on their interpretation of their life’s experience with their mother. Ideologues fall hard when disillusioned. Look at the Leftists now deserting Obama! Charlotte was clearly an ideologue and she was hurt very deeply when Harry lost faith with his roots.

We have our own Harry Reid right here in AZ . . .in bed with T. Kennedy with the Amnesty Bill . . . Now desiring to bed with the Voters, singing 'Character Matters'.
Though his ads are more indicative of the phrase: "'Character Assassination' matters" . . . when you lost the presidency; and you really don't want to lose your seat in WDC!
"Left, Right . . . "anyway the wind blows,
"I goes ! ! !"
The Reps lost me when Dole ran rather than Elizabeth!
2008 could have been brighter, had He assigned his Running Mate 'Top Billing' . . .
Character Matters ! Indeed !
