If anyone wants to study the dysfunction of Nevada’s Republican Party, they’ll have to analyze the horse manure that passed for procedure during the April 2008 GOP state convention. Animated Ron Paul supporters turned out by the truckload and made their voices heard.
Their voices were heard, but their votes weren’t counted. They smelled an obvious rat. They knew they were being steamrolled by the party headed by then-Chairwoman Sue Lowden.
And what did they get for their participation in the process?
Nothing but almost constant ridicule from Lowden’s guard dog, Chuck Muth. They were called “Paultards” and much worse for month after month.
Well, it turns out three Paul supporters were indeed cheated out of their rightful place as delegates to the Republican National Convention. Newspapers now report those Paul supporters feel vindicated after some missing ballots were found – amazing! – 18 months after paranoid GOP bosses shut down the convention.
New state party chairwoman Nancy Ernaut said, “This should have been done a long time ago.”
And she’s right. The convention damaged the party and took away political steam in a year Republicans could ill afford more bad news.
Did those ballots really spend the last 18 months locked in a casino cage at the Peppermill in Reno? Amazing. And hard to believe.
Lowden should apologize for this debacle, and for all the vitriol spewed at Ron Paul’s supporters, but I don’t imagine Paul supporters are holding their breath waiting for that to happen.
Agreed. State conventions are known for their procedural games, but this transcends that. This was a ham-handed attempt at rigging and putting a happy face of unity on a party that was attempting to raise important questions of philosophy.
Ironically, some of the same people who couldn't resist crushing Paul's supporters are now preaching about "true conservatism" and party unity.
And, yes, the Democrats run the risk of looking like the control freaks.
aborted. At all levels of human activity, a reversion to competent, conscientious, honest Leadership is a necessity for the trend of corruption to be arrested.
Neither of them have any credibility with non-RINOs; we remembered Bob Beers last time and now it's time for Sue.
C'mon, Sue, tell us how important we real Repubs are.
I'll watch for your response.
John - You really have some serious beef with Lowden. If you are so great and wise, why don't you drop the pen and enter yourself in a political race.
Easy to chastise the candidate but problematic to puny the pundit.
Frankly, I don't care if Sue Lowden apologizes or not. IMO, she has completely destroyed her integrity. I will assume that anything she says is a self-serving lie.
Also, I realize that 1 vote doesn't amount to a hill of beans. But, there is no way that I'll be voting Republican in the next election.

Just go down to the clinical definition of psychopath, and compare what you know about any politician, with this definition.
