Venue settled in Krolicki case: Let’s Rumble

Now that District Judge Valerie Adair has ruled the felony misappropriation of funds trial against Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and an assistant will go forward in Las Vegas, the former state treasurer’s lawyers should finally be anxious to press their case.

Krolicki has screamed politics in this affair. He had planned to join the growing army of Republican candidates to challenge Senate
Majority Leader Harry Reid’s seat, and he’s made little secret that he suspects the Searchlight Zephyr is behind his problems.

The state Attorney General’s office, meanwhile, says Krolicki’s actions are behind his problems and Reid had nothing to do with the trouble.

If Krolicki, as advertised, is so anxious to get to court, he should have no problem approving of the decision to hire longtime Las Vegas
attorney Dominic Gentile as special prosecutor. (Should it be determined the state Attorney General’s office has a conflict of interest, Gentile would step in to handle the state’s case.)

Frankly, I’m looking forward to watching Gentile, the defense attorney, work from the other side of the room.

If Krolicki’s idea is to clear his name, he should want to hurry and get it done. The latest trial date is Oct. 12 in Adair’s courtroom.

She received the case after Judge Elissa Cadish recused herself due to a conflict of interest.

It’s time to rumble. That’s the best way for Krolicki to clear his name.

Assuming he wins, of course.

Pure Political character assasination, that is what this case was from the beginning, and continues to be. This was a way for Cortez-Mastos, Harry Reid and others to ruin the reputation of a person that threatens their influence and privilege in Nevada.

There is no justification whatsoever for this case to be tried in Southern Nevada, except for Cortez-Mastos' perception that her chance of winning here, where Krolicki is not well known, is far greater.

Dominic Gentile is not an appropriate prosecutor in this case, and allowing him this opportunity of showboating makes no more sense then the filing of the case in the first place.

I am embarrased to be a citizen of Nevada when considering this matter.

As Observer says, character assassination, and, at a glance, almost random cruelty at that. It seemed Cadish was pressured to recuse herself after she was observed considering Krolicki's attorney's motion to dismiss. Masto made certain of that, as Masto seems to have orchestrated so much of this hunt from inception. But I thought AG's advanced Nevadans' legal interests in state-related
matters..certainly not their own political agendas.

Can another reader explain what, besides take the guidance and recommendations of former deputy attorneys general, and Masto's own office, what this man did as Treasurer, to warrant this baseless, and fairly certain destruction of his political future? When not a dime is even missing? It would be gratifying to hear the press push for real answers --or be really outraged--when state officials are pounded into political oblivion as we've seen happen a few times this year. At will? At whim? It's a Nevada tradition we seem to save for our less well-connected sons.
