The pyramid will have a Carrot Top until 2015, an extension celebrated onstage Wednesday by casino executives and the comedian best known for his visual prop gags.
The ceremonies played a bit like a Vaudeville routine with Luxor president Felix Rappaport serving up the lines as straight man. Rappaport noted the comedian (known offstage as Scott Thompson) had done more than 1,000 shows at Luxor since 2005.
“And four of them were very happy,” Carrot Top added.
Rappaport wanted to bestow “something to commemorate (the achievement) …”
“Is it a cock ring?” asked Carrot Top, tying back to a joke earlier in the show.
“… to commemorate your great career.”
“It’s not over, right?”
It turned out to be a jack-in-the-box pyramid with a red-headed doll popping out, and a giant frame full of photos and memorabilia.
“Is that Criss Angel?” Carrot Top asked, before taking Rappaport to task for a Luxor ad promising “hot nightlife and sexy entertainers like Criss Angel.”
“What the (expletive)? There’s nothing about me?” Carrot Top pretended to complain.
He was more subservient when Rappaport told him, “You’re obviously drinking too much onstage.”
“No I’m not,” Carrot Top blurted. “It’s not real liquor. You know that,” he said, referring to an earlier booze gag in the show.
