A Web site for magicians called iTricks is reporting today that Lance Burton and the Monte Carlo have come to terms for a two-year contract extension: http://itricks.com/news/
Contacted for a response, Burton publicist Wayne Bernath says he will “have information soon.”
The Web site’s editor, Justin Young, interviewed me earlier for background and context on Burton’s long-running deal with the Monte Carlo. That interview is a couple of postings below the news about the contract extension. While he didn’t misquote me, I must add that all talk of Burton’s income from the Monte Carlo show must come with a qualifier: He doesn’t draw a paycheck from the casino, and all estimates of his earnings are based on potential ticket sales as a tenant production.
Burton’s 13-year contract at the Monte Carlo officially ends Saturday, and the show is on hiatus while the magician heals a broken foot. He’s set to return by July 1.
