Perhaps these distrustees know that they can springboard these nonpaying positions into more powerful paying positions like county commission (Susan Brager, Yvonne Atkinson-Gates) and city commissions (Lois Tarkanian.

Imagine America if Bill Clinton had been able to serve a third term, or Ronald Reagan for that matter. Term Limits was instituted simply to appease the ignorants who have little or no understanding of government process. (They also have the right to recall.) In addition, District court judges should be appointed, not elected, especially here in Nevada. Furthermore, electing the sheriff is like electing military generals - it is not appropriate. Throw in the school board as well - they should be appointed proportionatly by the county commission - much like the planning board. I also recommend that since Nevada has more then two million residents - the state legislature should meet on an annual basis. Las Vegas is no longer some dusty backwater - it is a major, international city.
