Two nongaming attractions now at Tropicana will be displayed at Luxor

Luxor is picking up two nongaming attractions from the Tropicana.

Atlanta-based Premier Exhibitions announced Tuesday it signed a 10-year agreement with the Luxor to covert 50,000 square feet of the resort's atrium level into exhibition space for "Bodies ... The Exhibition" and "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition." Both shows are now on display at the Tropicana. No dates were announced as to when the shows would be relocated.

  • Since last year, MGM Mirage, which owns Luxor, has been renovating the pyramid-themed resort named for the historic Egyptian city, adding several restaurants and nightclubs. Luxor President Felix Rappaport said last year the atrium level would also be remodeled.

MGM Mirage spokeswoman Jenn Michaels said Premier will remove the King Tut exhibit, the IMAX theater and the arcade to clear the atrium level for the two attractions. She said work on the area was expected to begin next month.

In a statement, Premier Exhibitions said the Titanic exhibit would include one themed bar and restaurant and a reconstruction of Titanic's bow which will use a moving lifeboat for guests to gain access to the location. Gift shops will also be included in the space.

Premier said it expects the exhibitions to open sometime this year.

The Luxor, like the rest of the Mega Resorts, is wiping out any other reason to visit them.
At least now, there is something worth the money. Why do you think it kept getting extended.

At least its not another circus freak show. Actually is something education for those people who still insist on bringing their munchkins to an adult paradise.

That will be the only guests they get from now on. Why do you think the Tropicana is folding fast?

I guess the Luxor was good for a while, no thanks anymore.

What is left? The Shark Reef is too small. Now before you carzy people blog about the casinos being here first, blah, blah ,blah, blah. Without us horrible families with alien children this city would not run. There are not enough single people or couples without children to fill the jobs. It is inevitable to have families move here and someone needs to being more culture and educational facilities to this town. I fly to Chicago every summer to take my kids to Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and the zoos. With all of the money in the city we should be able to help the families that have the audacity of moving to sin city. :)

the titanic exhibit is worthy, not seen elsewhere. it's the largest accumulation of items recovered from the ship.

the "king tut" exhibit, though a "recreation", is actually better than what's left in the valley of the kings tomb and far better laid out than the exhibits in the cairo antiquities museum.
