The gaming industry's Washington, D.C., lobbying group has hired a longtime aide to Speaker of the House John Boehner as the organization's vice president of government affairs.

In a statement Friday, the American Gaming Association said Whitaker Lee Askew would work to expand gaming's support in Washington, D.C.

Askew spent five years with Boehner, a Republican from Ohio who became speaker this month following his party's takeover of the House of Representatives.

Fahrenkopf said it was important for the gaming industry to expand its base of advocates. The changes in the makeup of Congress following the last election brought new representatives from gaming jurisdictions and districts not located in traditional gaming states.

"Whit's record of achievement here in Washington speaks for itself, and his contacts and experience will be vital," Fahrenkopf said.

If Askew helped make Boehner what he is then he belongs in prison along with DeLay. Boehner seems to forget he supported everyone of Bush's failed policies that has put America where it is today. Boehner is known for a couple of things that make him the talk of the town In Washington DC and that is having more golf days than any other member of Congress and being the town drunk. He is famous for voting for special interst groups and taking their money while forgetting who sent him to Congress. Boehner has never ment a lobbyist he doesn't like,as long as they have deep pockets. Boehner can be had for a price.

What do we need this guy for? I thought that's why the gaming industry re-elected Dirty Harry. I think even the Casinos are second guessing their support. Harry bluffed everyone into thinking we needed him. All Reid voters should feel really stupid and go back to voting for American Idol only.
