Jan Jones, senior vice president of communications and government relations for Caesars Entertainment Corp., will receive the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award for Gaming Communications, an industry-trade group said Thursday.
Each year, the American Gaming Association recognizes an individual for their career achievements in the gaming industry. Jones, a former mayor of Las Vegas, will be honored Oct. 5 during Global Gaming Expo.
"Throughout her career, she has made substantial contributions to the growth and development of the gaming industry, such as advancing the industry's focus on corporate social responsibility and communicating the positive impact of the gaming industry," association President Frank Fahrenkopf said.
Jones oversees worldwide government affairs, corporate communications and community relations for Caesars Entertainment. She also sits on the board directors of Nevada Public Radio and the Women's Campaign Fund.
Jones is also the regional vice chairwoman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Executive Committee.

You're kidding? She's still working there? I thought she had retired years ago. She should shed the makeup, trade the heels for flats, and collect Social Security for god's sake.
An Industry Award for "Growth and development of the gaming industry, such as advancing the industry's focus on corporate social responsibility and communicating the positive impact of the gaming industry" ...That is Priceless!!! My guess is Bugsy Siegel is rolling in his grave.
Of course. This is payback for her years as mayor when she spearheaded the illegal taking of the properties of Hecht & Pappas and others and gave them to DT casino interests! Jan "Airhead" Jones cost those of us who actually live in LV and pay taxes here millions in lawyers fees and money flushed down the toilet with insane projects like Neonopolis and the Red Elephant parking structure that lose tons more each year. She's a creepy-crawler and deserves no respect from any of us!
This award must be in recognition of the fact that Jan Jones helped then Harrah's Entertainment Inc, now Caesars Entertainment bury the massive ASBESTOS exposure of, at a minimum, tens of thousands of construction workers, hotel employees & hotel guests during the course of many of Harrah's now documented illegal remodels at several of their properties here in Las Vegas. Jan Jones should be very proud of herself and we can all see why she is so deserving of this award. Jan Jones is a shining example of the heights that one can rise to in Las Vegas if one is willing to have no morals or ethics! Jan Jones represents everything that is wrong with this city & state, and in my humble opinion has played and continues to play her part in the CORRUPTION machine that has a strangle-hold on our city.
Gary Lovechecks likes to keep people on the payroll who have friends in high places, money talks, Hey Gary send her to china see if we can get a lic. for Macau
Reverend, are you cussing?
Jan Jones, all grown up. Remember back in the 70's she was doing the Toyota commercials here?
For the folks to give her an award is like the IRS giving Al Capone an award. For what? Exactly. These quasi stars of self importance are forever playing in front of a mirror and practicing their acceptance speech for.....breathing, I guess.
She has contributed so much. All those pesky violations for rennovations that just seemed to disappear once she was put on the case. Minami Tower, remember that. A great big hole in the ground we threw bucket loads of money in, none of it hers, and it all disappeared. That was before the Fremont Street Experience.
When will we slobbering morons learn?
It is obvious I have been censored for exercising my right to publish & express my view of this so called award. It must be the automic filter
Hey wheres the edit button --proof read button
Hey Fahrenkopf, what exactly did Jan Jones do to contribute to gaming? She cant even explain the rules of a blackjack game for C.S., LOL
Jan was also at the helm at the time of the destruction of downtown, AKA Fremont Street Experience.
