Airport tries again for liquor store in baggage claim area

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
Two years after the concept first came up, McCarran International Airport will take another crack at a liquor store in the baggage claim area.
Clark County commissioners on Tuesday awarded the concession to a new venture, Liquor Library. The airport projects the store will generate rents of $300,000 to $400,000 a year from a now-vacant space in the south end of the baggage claim at Terminal 1.
Three companies submitted proposals for the franchise awarded to Lee's Liquor in 2010, but after partnership problems stalled progress the airport declared Lee's in default and turned to Liquor Library, the second-place finisher.
Christian Haase, a principal in the affiliated Burnett Haase Construction and Business Properties Group, and Molasky Group of Cos. President and Chief Operating Officer Richard Worthington co-own Liquor Library. Because the space will cover only about 1,350 square feet, the Liquor Library will go vertical with bottles arrayed on library-style shelves with ladder-climbing clerks. Worthington said he expects to open in the fall.

A large number of tourists stop at a liquor store (or grocery store) on the way from the airport to their hotel. It is a frequent topic on Trip Advisor. Having a liquor store in the baggage claim area of the airport will save these thirsty tourists the inconvenience and expense of having their cab stop at Vons so they can buy booze.
Mary is right. I have stayed at Rio several times and bought liquor at Gold Coast. Same with Flamingo, there is a liquor store right behind.
No, you didn't read that right. Visitors can't buy liquor from bars and take it to the hotels.
They'll be able to take liquor bought from the liquor store at the airport & take it with them.
I don't drink, but I don't know what the big deal is. Grocery stores/drug stores are certainly close enough to any hotel/casino, and some casinos (like the Gold Coast) have gift stores that sell liquor. I'm sure it would be cheaper at any of those places than at the airport. Everything's more expensive at the airport.
okay so they buy the liquor but cant take it to the hotel .did i read that right . liquored up tourists in a cab to be taken advantage of by cabbies from foreign countries more longhauling on the way
