Pittsburgh firm acquires JMA Architects of Las Vegas

Michael Baker Corp. has acquired JMA Architects Inc., a 40-person Las Vegas architectural and interior design firm.

The firm, which does business as JMA Architecture Studios, specializes in the design of health care, hospital, education and commercial buildings.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Joining Baker will result in improved services for our clients and more opportunities for our people," Tom Schoeman, president of JMA Architects, said in a statement Wednesday.

Founded in 1945, JMA posted revenue of $10 million in fiscal year 2010.

The company's noteworthy projects include the new Veterans Administration Las Vegas Medical Center, Las Vegas City Hall, World Market Center, Thunder Valley Casinos and Valley View Casino Hotel.
