To help local businesses build and maintain strong presences online, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has launched Stephens Media Digital Services.

Stephens Media Digital Services, in partnership with the Review-Journal, a Stephens Media publication, will provide a variety of digital services to local and regional businesses including:

■ Website, branding and logo design;

■ Hosting and customer support for websites and related digital services; (Web hosts providing server space, services and file maintenance for Web sites controlled by individuals or companies that lack their own Web servers.)

■ Email marketing; mobile marketing; training to provide local businesses easy tools to maintain and update their sites and to analyze Web traffic;

■ Search engine optimization and search engine marketing; (search engine optimization involves adjusting the hypertext markup language in Web pages to get those pages ranked higher in search results, usually resulting in more viewers.)

■ Customer reputation management with daily reporting;

■  Social media presence and tracking tools for digital and traditional marketing.

Review-Journal Online Advertising Director Tyler Mack said Stephens Media Digital Services is a small dedicated team within the Las Vegas Review-Journal staff, and it could grow in time.

The services will be offered to current Review-Journal advertisers and to other local and regional businesses.

Mack said that as businesses grow online, the R-J wants to be there with them.

"It serves our interests that our local advertisers have good presences online and can drive traffic to their sites," Mack said.

Review-Journal Publisher Bob Brown said, "This is one of many new projects we'll be implementing in the coming months. Our goal is to provide local businesses with all the tools they need to be successful."

Mack said the R-J has served its advertisers in both print and online for years and that this new program extends those efforts.

"It's a deeper solution; it goes beyond the basics and is a more consultative solution," he said. "For years we've seen local businesses struggle with their websites, their digital footprints, and we came to the conclusion that there's a need for this and that we have the expertise to fill that need."

Mack said that the new services are designed to meet all budgets and save businesses time and money.

These new services have also been launched in all other markets in which Stephens Media owns and operates newspapers.

    This sounds like a good idea, but in all honesty, I would really have to think twice having my business/site in the LVRJ's hands, with their track record of lawsuits via their law firm, Righthaven and their past history of suing over frivolous copyright infringement accusations.

    You know that the print media is having financial difficulties when they get into the web design business.
    With a small internal team, more than likely they are outsourcing actual production to India like everyone else.
