Ten up-and-coming business leaders were honored Friday at the Sixth Annual Rising Stars Awards luncheon hosted by Hard Rock Cafe.

The Las Vegas Business Press sponsors The Rising Stars Awards and winners were selected by a panel of Business Press judges.

Mayor Oscar Goodman was on hand to present the awards to Geno Bernardo, executive chef for Nove Italiano; Alison Gramenos, creative director for Silverton; Alissa Kelly, partner and chief operating officer of PR Plus; Kimberly McGhee, attorney for Bailey Kennedy; Denise Mora, regional market manager for America First Credit Union; Brian Patchett, president and CEO of Easter Seals; Austin "Chumlee" Russell, star of "Pawn Stars"; Marcie Smedley, youth services department chief for Gibson Library; Ty Stewart, vice president of Caesars Interactive Entertainment and the World Series of Poker; and Christopher Way, director of digital media for KLAS-TV, Channel 8.

"This is one of my favorite days, because I come here and look at the best and brightest that our community has," Goodman told the crowd of more than 100 attendees.

"There's so much bad news out there that every once in a while you have to have a boost, a shot in the arm, to prove to us that Las Vegas has a great future. What you have achieved is close to miraculous," Goodman added.

Goodman has been a staple at the Rising Stars Awards since its inception, and the ceremony recognized his achievements as well as those of the award winners.

Rising Star Ty Stewart used his time at the microphone to thank Goodman for his time as mayor.

Goodman's term ends this spring.

"We're going to miss your leadership. You embody the city, the creative spirit I think that many of us have," Stewart said in his acceptance speech.

"Don't worry, there will be another very good mayor soon," Goodman joked.
