HARRAH'S DECLARES 'NO RESORT FEE' ZONE



Hollywood Madison, left, joined Marilyn Winn, president of Planet Hollywood and PH Towers, on Thursday announced that Planet Hollywood & PH Towers are the latest Harrah’s Entertainment hotels in Las Vegas to take a stand against resort fees. The resorts join Caesars Palace, Harrah’s Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino, Flamingo Las Vegas, Bally’s Las Vegas, Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon and Imperial Palace as official “no resort fee zones.” Madison and Winn are behind a wall of currency which represents the $12 million in cash spent last month on resort fees by visitors to the Las Vegas Strip. August 7, Saturday -- The cast of "Pawn Stars" will gather at the Suncoast August 7 for a "Gold & Silver Road Show." GUNS & HOSES SET FOR AUGUST 7 AT FIESTA RANCHO

August 7, Saturday -- About 30 local police officers and firefighters will compete in a charity ice hockey game to benefit The Rape Crisis Center. The Nevada Police and Fire Games hosts the third annual Guns & Hosescharity game. The event will take place at the SOBE Ice Arena inside the Fiesta Rancho, starting at 6 p.m.

FLAIR BARTENDING SUMMIT

August 15-16, Sunday-Tuesday -- Rock & Rita’s at Circus Circus, will host Nations International Flair Challenge featuring more than 50 internationally ranked flair bartenders from nine countries. The winner receives $10,000 in cash. Competition begins August 15 with registration and a meet-and-greet banquet for participants at the Kahunaville pool at Treasure Island. Radiothon for The Caring Place

A radiothon on ESPN affiliate KWWN-AM, 1100 gets under way at 10 a.m. today at the Palms. Dozens of celebrities are taking part in the fundraiser for The Caring Place, dedicated to easing the journey of those affected by cancer. Las Vegas baseball executive Don Logan is being honored at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person or $450 for a table of 10. Call 871-7333.
