Smoky Simon Cowell Tells ‘Idol’ Producer To ‘Vowel Consonant’
“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe came to Las Vegas this weekend with a cast on his right arm. It was just a flesh wound, nothing serious, he said. “I can still hit Simon in the mouth, and if I just click Paula [Abdul] around the ear every now and again, she might wake up,” Lythgoe said. I’m always curious about how “Idol” judge Simon Cowell smokes cigarettes, only because I think it affects his mood to go into nicotine withdrawal on the air. So I asked Lythgoe if Simon gets smoke breaks to calm him down. “No, Simon doesn’t get smoke breaks, he just takes them,” Lythgoe said, all smiles. “He doesn’t actually complete them. He has about three puffs and then he puts them out. “I was [smoking] 60 a day” before quitting four years ago, Lythgoe said. “So I know what it’s like to keep it up. I had a heart attack and that stopped me smoking.” Does he ever tell Simon to quit? “Of course. What do you think he said? Hogs & Heifers Saloon is hitting the roads with "Hog Wild for Kids," a charity motorcycle ride and event to be held May 18.
 
With all proceeds benefiting Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation’s (NVCCF) Camp Cartwheel, a camp for children undergoing care/treatment with NVCCF and their siblings, Hog Wild for Kids charity motorcycle ride will be revving up their engines as participants cruise the scenic back roads through Red Rock and out to The Mountain Springs Saloon for a rest stop and group photo before ending back to Hogs & Heifers Saloon in downtown Las Vegas (201 North 3rd Street).
 
Accompanied by a complimentary breakfast, registration for the event will be from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. the day of the ride with kick-stands up at 10:30 a.m. Registration fees are $20 per rider and $10 per passenger due at check-in and include the after party (non-ride participants are encouraged to donate $5.00 for the party to benefit NVCCF.)
