Friendly Ford and The Animal Foundation will present Paws for the Cause, a pet adoption event, Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Friendly Ford on Decatur Boulevard just off U.S. Highway 95.

"Friendly Ford had a spectacular adoption event in May and The Animal Foundation challenged us to get even more dogs and cats adopted this time around. Friendly is going to meet that challenge," said Jason Davis, general manager of Friendly Ford. "The Animal Foundation takes in 50,000 animals a year, over 130 a day. Friendly Ford wants to do its part and help find homes for these beautiful animals."

All pets adopted at the dealership Saturday are spayed or neutered and up to date on shots. Plus there will be pet bandanas, Frisbees, T-shirts and dog food given away with every pet adoption. Additionally, everyone who adopts a pet that day will receive a complimentary mini studio portrait session from Pet'ographique. The Animal Foundation's spay and neuter trailer also will be on hand and Dr. Sam Lynch of the Desert Inn Animal Hospital will offer free microchipping courtesy of Friendly Ford.

The Animal Foundation believes community is essential, education is empowerment and action is everything. Its mission is to inspire and enable people to join the fight against pet overpopulation. Services offered include pet adoptions, low-cost spay and neuter procedures and vaccination services, and volunteering and foster opportunities. Since its reorganization in 2007, The Animal Foundation has put together one of the best teams of animal sheltering professionals in the country and is becoming a shelter model for responsibility, efficiency and effectiveness.

The Las Vegas community's animal overpopulation statistics are challenging. However, there are solutions. Through a variety of services and programs, it is making positive strides in reducing the number of lost and unwanted animals received at the shelter each year.

Friendly Ford is located at 660 N. Decatur Blvd., the same location it has been at for all 41 years. The phone number is 702-870-7221 and you can find it on the Web at www.friendlyfordlv.com
