Planet Hyundai dealership now under new ownership

Having worked as a casino dealer, casino owner, real estate agent and limousine company operator, among other jobs, it's no surprise that Ron Coury has found another new arena to explore.

Recently, Coury and his business partner, Don Tamburro, purchased Planet Hyundai -- the only Hyundai dealership in Las Vegas -- located at 7150 W. Sahara Ave.

"Hyundai USA is in the midst of a $190 million advertising campaign, resulting in increased customer awareness and interest in the Hyundai brand," Coury said. "Don and I have ensured that all customers are treated with a hands-on approach and will experience the highest levels of customer service."

A Brooklyn, N.Y., native, Coury moved to Las Vegas in 1973 from California after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Since then, he has worked as a dealer at the Tropicana, a real estate agent and co-owner of a bar and lounge, a graphics company, a glass company, a limousine company, a car wash and two casinos.

Tamburro, who has decades of experience in the car busines, moved to Las Vegas in August 2009 and decided to come out of retirement.

Coury and Tamburro toyed around with the idea of going into business together. They "kicked a lot of tires" and came upon the opportunity to purchase Planet Hyundai.

"Hyundai is the right brand for this time in our economy," Coury said. "With the reduction of employee work hours around town and their anxiety with the risk of layoffs, people are hesitant to finance a vehicle. It's the second largest purchase, besides a home that most people will ever make."

Hyundai Assurance guarantees that if you lose your job within the first year of owning your car, you can give it back hassle-free. Hyundai is also the most fuel efficient and reliable car in America offering its unique 10-year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

"In my opinion, right now is a great time to buy," Coury said. "Lenders are making money available and it is truly a buyer's market. We are at or near the bottom of this economic downturn.

"Las Vegas is bouncing back. I have been in this town for 37 years. I've raised my three children here. I know this town."

Planet Hyundai is located at 7150 W. Sahara Ave., just west of Rainbow Boulevard. Call 938-1400 for more information.

Kia is another pile of garbage. Too bad an American has to sell this junk!! I hope they close too. Maybe, the tightwad asians will star to buy American cars?
