Global trends topic for seminar at design center

The latest interior design trends from Europe will be shared as Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center presents its monthly First Friday design seminar March 5.

Las Vegas resident Jackie Von Tobel, a designer, author, illustrator and blogger, visited the winter Heimtextile in Frankfurt, IMM Cologne and Maison et Objet in Paris. She'll uncover her findings via a visual tour of emerging global trends, color, style and design for 2010.

With more than 20 years of experience in design and professional speaking, Von Tobel's mission is to encourage designers and decorators to revisit the fundamentals of soft furnishing design while expanding their ranges. She is the author and illustrator of a series of illustrated encyclopedias and comprehensive design manuals for the trade, students and consumers. The Design Directory of Window Treatments was her first book and she recently released the second volume in the series, The Design Directory of Bedding. She is currently working on the third and fourth books, which will focus on soft furnishings such as slipcovers, upholstery, table linens and table skirts.

Von Tobel is a member of several professional organizations and is certified by the Window Fashions Certification Program, Window Coverings Association of America and The Custom Home Furnishings Academy.

First Friday features educational opportunities, showroom specials, hospitality and other exclusive offerings for the trade.

Von Tobel will speak from 10-11:30 a.m. in C-176 at the design center, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway. A book signing will follow the presentation.
