Faux Pas CARRIE UNDERWOOD COMMITS A RED CARPET CRIME OF FASHION

Carrie Underwood has managed to impress us more often than not in the past year. The former "American Idol" slowly but surely shed her country western tassels in favor of a polished look that elevated her to dating an NFL quarterback. Bravo, Underwood.

One problem: the Judy Jetson, snow princess getup you rocked to the American Music Awards undercuts your fashion triumphs. We understand relapses. A scrunchie here, a shiny belt buckle there. But those temptations should never lure you when a red carpet is involved. This dress wouldn't cause a single flinch during the Country Music Awards arrivals, where tacky governs the dress code. But when attending an awards show where nary a ten-gallon hat blocks an audience member's view, it just doesn't fly.

  • We're having trouble deciding which offends us more, the neck brace of a collar or the obnoxious embellishments. If Underwood wanted to go with a sexy dress and an interesting neckline, she should have stopped there. Instead, this Catherine Malandrino sequin dress (right) would have had Tony Romo kicking himself, not breathing a sigh of relief that he moved on to Jessica Simpson. Other than the fact it doesn't resemble a children's winter play costume, the frock gets the point across without shoving it in our faces. Sexy yet subtle.

The accessories only register as minor offenses. The only item we wouldn't haul off to the showgirl showroom would be the dazzling clutch the country crooner toted before picking up three awards. Everything else -- the snake crawling stilettos and snowball drop earrings included -- have our eyes welling up with tears. Underwood has officially fallen off the style bandwagon.

To avoid committing such a catastrophe, consider these items we've selected.

Can't think of anything bad to write about anyone else. Carrie alwas looks beautiful and is one classy woman. She has more style than obviously you do since I hate your selections!
