The winners are: Amanda Slagle from Green Valley High School; Adler Chang and Joyce Pang from Clark High School; Alexander Cooper from Silverado High School; Sydney Goings and Natalie Orlin from Advanced Technologies Academy; Michael Jones from Palo Verde High School; and Kevin Kowalski and Brandon Silverman from The Meadows School.

In other news:

* Mollie and Jackie Singer, twin 18-year-olds from Las Vegas, are featured in the spring advertising campaign "Mudd Girls Move the World." The campaign, for the junior fashion brand Mudd, features four young women involved in philanthropic efforts. The ads will appear online and in print. Mollie and Jackie raise funds for diabetes research. Mollie was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when she was 4. The sisters have filmed public service announcements for diabetes and formed Diabetic Angels, an international diabetic support group. Mudd donated $2,500 to charities supported by the young women in the campaign and awarded a $2,500 scholarship to each girl.

* Christian Hirschi, a student at Cumorah Academy, has been selected to participate in the People to People World Leadership Forum Sept. 15-21 in Washington, D.C. While at the forum, pupils will earn high school credit by studying leadership skills and visiting historical sites and institutions including Capitol Hill and the Smithsonian Institution.

* Brianna Lien of Centennial High School, is one of 60 national finalists who participated in the Young Epidemiology Scholars Competition finals April 4-7 in Washington, D.C. For the competition, entrants developed a research project on a health problem. Brianna, who was awarded a $2,000 college scholarship, chose as her project "Eating Habits and Teenage Health Problems." More than 550 juniors and seniors from across the country entered research projects in the high school science competition.

* Kendall Barnett, an eighth-grader at Webb Middle School, is featured as a main character in the book "Bo and the Roaring Pines" by Lynn Sheffield Simmons, Kendall's cousin. The book is the latest in the children's book series "Bo the Famous Retriever," which is on the Accelerated Reader list. The storybooks also have been made into textbooks for parents and teachers.

* Five young men from the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boys Scouts of America have recently become Eagle Scouts:

Brandon Blood, 17, is the son of Bart and Karen Blood. He is a member of Troop No. 845.

David Bonar, 18, is the son of Kathy Dalvey and Richard Bonar. He is a member of Troop No. 120.

Zachary Peterson, 15, is the son of Marcie Peterson. He is a member of Troop No. 711.

Jacob Waite, 17, is the son of Mark and Oneita Waite. He is a member of Troop No. 508.

Brandon P. Wallace, 18, is the son of Phillip and Sheila Wallace. He is a member of Troop No. 259.
