MERCHANT MARINE VETERANS

The High Rollers Chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans will meet at 11 a.m. Friday at the Moose Red Rock Lodge, 4970 W. Charleston Blvd. All past Navy armed guard and anyone who has gone to sea may attend (732-1369).

  • POETS' CORNER

    Las Vegas poets and open-mic participants will meet for readings at the Las Vegas Arts Center Poets Corner. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday at West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. The free event is open to the public (229-4800).

    TOASTMASTERS

    Valley Voices & Vices Toastmasters Club meets at 7:30 a.m. Fridays at Nevada Federal Credit Union, 2645 S. Mojave Road, Suite C (454-8266).

    High Noon Lectern Toastmasters Club meets at noon Fridays at Denny's, 3081 S. Maryland Parkway (798-3700).

    SEMINAR

    Dr. A. Scott Martin of Martin Orthopedics will share information on pain management at 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. The class is sponsored by the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Admission is free (369-6095, 822-6920).

    WOMEN'S GROUPS

    The Kappa Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of Suzan Sibert. The program will feature installation of new officers, followed by a spring luncheon. Reservations are requested (656-1479).

    PINOCHLE CLUB

    The Las Vegas Pinochle Club meets at 5 p.m. Saturdays at Boulder Cascade Clubhouse. The group is open to new members (338-5770).

    HADASSAH TZIPOR

    Hadassah Tzipor, serving Aliante, Centennial Hills and North Las Vegas, will have its next meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Sun City Clubhouse, 7930 Aliante Parkway, North Las Vegas (657-0456).

    CULTURAL HISTORY DAY

    The Junior League of Las Vegas will observe Cultural History Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday with a public tour of the historic midcentury Morelli House at 861 Bridger Ave. Docent volunteers will conduct the tours and explain the architectural highlights and the history of the house. Admission is free, but reservations are required (822-6536).

    HUMANIST ASSOCIATION

    The Humanist Association of Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, for ethical agnostics and atheists, will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North (258-1587).

    FAMILY CLASSES

    University Medical Center's Family Resource Center offers many classes throughout the month at 1120 Shadow Lane. Appointments are required (383-2229).

    SINGLE PARENTS

    A new social networking group for single parents in Las Vegas and Henderson is being formed that will offer family-friendly activities (436-5204).
