SPOTLIGHT: BY 'PUPULAR' DEMAND: GOIN' TO THE DOGS

Readers pass obedience test by fetching photos of their favorite pooches doing their favorite, tail-wagging things

We knew Review-Journal readers loved their dogs. But maybe we didn't know they loved them quite this much.

In honor of all of the dog-lovers and dogs across the Las Vegas Valley -- and in a loose homage to the "Greatest American Dog" TV show -- we asked readers to send us photos of their dogs. Boy, did they send us photos. Several hundred readers sent us a total of 498 photos.

  • We had silly dogs. Serious dogs. Fluffy dogs. Frantic dogs. Costumed dogs. Cool dogs. In every shape and size imaginable, from a teacup Pomeranian to a mastiff.

Here, we present some of the photos that appealed to us the most. More photos -- although, alas, not all 498 -- appear online at www.reviewjournal.com/dogphotos.

If your dog didn't make the final cut, don't be disheartened. In the eyes of its owner, every dog is the greatest American dog.
