  • Author John Michael Stuart will sign and discuss "Perfect Circles: Redefining Perfection" at 10 a.m. Saturday at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 3645 S. Town Center Drive.

    EVENTS

    A kickoff reception for the Las Vegas Writers Conference featuring authors, editors, publishers and agents, a book sale and book signings, will be 7-10 p.m. Thursday in the Ponderosa Room at Sam's Town, 5111 Boulder Highway.

    "Get Over Yourself and Get Writing," a writing workshop with author Vicki Pettersson, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Jewel Box Theater at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

    For National Reading Month, all Borders locations in the Las Vegas Valley will collect new books to benefit Child Haven's Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation. Participants who donate a book through April 24 will receive a two-for-one ticket offer to magician Mac King's comedy show at Harrah's Las Vegas.

    Mornings with Mari Book Club meets at 10 a.m. the third Saturday of each month and the Best Book You've Never Read book group meets the second Sunday of the month at 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd.

    Book Lovers' Bistro meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave.

    The Breakfast Book Club meets at 11 a.m. the third Friday of the month and the Knights and Dragons Fantasy Book Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month at Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave.

    The Book Chat Cafe meets at 10:30 a.m. the third Saturday of each month at Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.

    The Murder in the Library group meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month and the Desert Hearts romance book club meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

    The Fantastic Classics Book Club meets at 7:15 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month and the Mystery Readers Book Club meets at 7:15 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson.

    The Malcolm Adult Book Chat meets at 4:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month at Lydia Malcolm Library, 2960 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson.

    OTHER ACTIVITIES

    The monthly Poet's Corner is the third Friday of the month at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

    STORY TIMES

    Story time with music and crafts is offered Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and the second Saturday of the month at Barnes & Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson.

    Story time in the Square is offered at 11 a.m. Wednesdays in Children's Park at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
