Here are a few things in news, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.
• "Peepshow" co-star Aubrey O'Day calls in sick after a topless photo of her, taken during a performance, is posted online. For some reason, that excuse never works with our human resources people.
• Almost half of respondents in a new "60 Minutes"-Vanity Fair poll choose Wal-Mart as the institution that best symbolizes America today. Crowded, cheap and a bit dingy.
• Former Las Vegas casino owner/showman Bob Stupak passes away. Into a heaven of gaudy carpeting, mirrored walls and a space-suited astronaut hanging from the ceiling, where the crapless craps tables are always hot.
• "Saturday Night Live" newcomer Jenny Slate accidentally utters a very bad word during a sketch. On the upside, when was the last time anybody talked this much about an SNL season opener?
• A woman in Indonesia gives birth to a 19-pound baby. Even men are screaming a sympathetic "Ow" over that one.
