Thunder center no fan of Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams had a fairly unremarkable rookie season after being selected in the first round of the 2013 draft.

He averaged 3.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while flashing signs of the athleticism that made him a sought after prospect.

Adams was more notable for his postseason performances as he became a thorn in the side of his opponents. His biggest contribution was getting Grizzlies’ forward Zach Randolph suspended for Game 7 of the first round series for what was deemed a punch.

Now, the New Zealand native might be getting under the skin of his own fans for his comments about his professional home.

“It’s real weird. The people are amazing, don’t get me wrong. People are amazing, really, really nice people. Awesome fans. Really committed, awesome place,” he told reporters as he met the media for the final time before beginning his first offseason, according to the Oklahoman.

So far, so good.

Nothing to see here. Then he continued.

“But the weather here is ridiculous. The winter is like, I was sliding around everywhere, it’s really cold. Like thunderstorms, it’s so hot,” he said. “I was like, ‘Oh, man’. I don’t want to say it sucks, but it’s borderline.”

Funny.

That final assessment could probably be used to sum up most of Adams’ rookie season on the court.
