PLAYER'S EDGE: Rampart giving away cash prizes

Every Saturday in September, the Rampart is giving away 15 $100-$2,000 cash prizes. Club Rampart members receive one entry for every 100 points ($200 coin-in on slots, $400 coin-in on video poker) earned on their cards beginning Monday. Players will have to swipe their cards to activate their entries and must be present at the drawings to win. On Tuesday and Thursday, players earning 400 points (no point redemption required) will receive a gourmet fruit press and those earning 150 points on Wednesday will receive a free bottle of chardonnay.

All new Hard Rock Rockstar Players Club members who earn 100 points ($100 coin-in on slots, $200-$600 video poker) within 24 hours of sign-up receive a $50 gift card to Ago Restaurant.

  • From noon to 6 p.m. Monday, the El Cortez will be serving free White Castle hamburgers to Club Cortez members playing at the machines or in the pit. Throughout September, the casino is giving out a wallet containing $10-$1,000 free play (or a $10 gift/gasoline card) to Club Cortez members hitting a $200-plus jackpot on slots or a $300-plus jackpot on video poker.

    Every day throughout September, both the Bighorn and Longhorn casinos are awarding Big Shot Club members 30-250,000 points when the member first inserts his card. Points can be redeemed for cash at the normal rate of 500 points equals $1.

    Throughout September, both Arizona Charlie's Decatur and Arizona Charlie's Boulder are offering A.C.E. Rewards Club members a 50 percent point redemption discount at the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets.

    The Riviera's next Mad Money Shopping Spree will be Nov. 20-24. Every 300 points earned on your Club Riviera Card since Jan. 1 counts toward $1 in spending spree money, which may be used to purchase a variety of gift items during the event.

    Cannery players earning 999 same-day points ($333 coin-in on slots, $500 coin-in on video poker; no point redemption required) on Saturday, receive a dry-fit logo shirt. Those earning 1,499 points on Monday receive a citrus press.

    Because of our deadline, we were unable to confirm many casinos' September bonus point schedules -- including Labor Day (Monday). If your favorite casino has offered bonus points on recent holidays, you may want to call or stop by to find out what they are doing this weekend.

I would bet dimes to dollars that he will be in a marathon VP session on a lucrative advantage play at one of the casinos where he was conveniently "unable to confirm" their Labor Day promotions in time to share them with the public here.

These days all I do is lose -- so I really don't pay attention to the promos, and wait for a free buffet and free play. I'm playing less and less. The casinos have killed the golden goose.
