PLAYER'S EDGE: Aliante Station's gaming similar to other Stations

Aliante Station, in North Las Vegas, will open up at 11:11 p.m. on Tuesday. The gaming information we're presenting here was gathered during a pre-opening tour. We'll leave to others to comment on the architecture, dining and overall ambiance.

Gaming-wise this is a Station casino. While each property has some differences, the gambling at all Station casinos is fairly similar. In video poker, for example, there will be a few games at over 100 percent where it will require $4 to earn one Boarding Pass point. The vast majority of machines, however, will have tighter pay schedules (where it will require only $1 to earn the same point). This formula has worked well for them, so why do it differently at Aliante Station?

  • Boarding Pass points earned here are the same as those earned at other Station properties. And the promotions here will be similar to those found at their sister properties, with one exception. At most Station casinos, you may collect your monthly free play at any of the properties (other than Green Valley Ranch). As of now, the free play you earn at Aliante may only be cashed at Aliante, and free play earned elsewhere must be cashed elsewhere. According to General Manager Joe Hasson, this may change down the road, and the casino is planning some cross-marketing with other Station properties.

There are two restaurants in the casino (MRKT sea and land and the Feast Buffet) where you may redeem your Boarding Pass points at the rate of 600 points per dollar. All other restaurants require spending 1,000 points per dollar.

El Cortez players hitting a $200 jackpot on slots or a $300 jackpot on video poker will receive a one-pound box of See's Candy or a $10 gasoline/gift card. On Tuesday, the casino will serve complimentary White Castle hamburgers to slot and table players from noon to 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, Bob Dancer will begin a 10-week semester of free video poker classes in the Showroom at South Point. A different game will be featured each week, with a beginner's class being offered from 1-2:30 p.m. while an intermediate class in the same game is offered from 3-4 p.m. Everyone 21 years of age and over is welcome. See The Club booth for a class schedule.
