Embrace Mardi Gras spirit with Galactic

Posted: Mar. 5, 2010 | 12:00 a.m.

The sound of New Orleans is impossible to pin down, as it's fluid as the spirits that flow so freely on Bourbon Street. The same could be said of the shifting aesthetics of one of the Crescent City's finest musical exports, free-range jazz/funk ensemble Galactic.

A combustible live presence, the group blurs the boundaries between soul, hip-hop, rock 'n' roll and just about any other genre they care to with flame-spittin' horns and seismic rhythms.

Join the festivities, as they bring Mardi Gras to Vegas at 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Wasted Space at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door; call 693-5583.
