The Blinking Man Poetry Bike Brigade and a book exchange will highlight First Friday Las Vegas this week, from 6 p.m. to midnight in the downtown arts district.

More than 10,000 people attended the October gathering.

The festival takes place the first Friday of the month in the arts district centered around Casino Center Boulevard and Colorado Avenue.

In partnership with the Vegas Valley Book Festival, bike riders from across the valley will gather at 5:30 p.m. at 1114 S. Casino Center Blvd. for the Blinking Man Poetry Bike Brigade, where cyclists will ride along while listening to live poetry. The group will make stops at galleries throughout downtown and hear additional poetry readings at each stop.

RTC staffers will be on hand for bike tuneups and to pump tires.

The Vegas Valley Book Festival's contribution includes a haiku reading at 6 p.m. in the Brett Wesley Gallery, 1112 S. Casino Center Blvd. And from 6 to 8 p.m., a book exchange will take place. Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh will give away signed copies of his book "Delivering Happiness" to the first 100 people between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

A Kids Zone, featuring games and interactive activities, opens at 6 p.m., and there will be an Outdoor Cinema at theatre7, 1406 S. Third St., at 7 p.m.

A classic car show, along with food and art vendors, will stretch from theatre7 along Third Street. Two stages with live music and DJ performances will be featured from 6 p.m. until midnight.
