Franken keynoting convention Feb. 23

Humorist and political hopeful Al Franken is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the Clark County Democratic Convention this month, county Democratic Party Chairman John Hunt said.

The event, the next step in choosing Nevada's national delegates to the Democratic National Convention, is scheduled to be held at Bally's on Feb. 23.

Nevada's other 16 counties also are scheduled to hold conventions that day.

Franken, whose career was launched as a writer and performer on the TV comedy show "Saturday Night Live," has hosted a liberal radio show and written best-selling political humor books, including "Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot."

Franken now is trying to ride his stardom to the U.S. Senate in his home state of Minnesota. He is a Democrat running for the seat held by Republican Norm Coleman.

In the record-setting Jan. 19 caucuses, 7,504 delegates were elected in Clark County precincts, making them eligible to vote and run in the county convention.

Delegates elected at the county level will go on to the state Democratic convention in April, where they can vote and run for national delegate positions.

Nevada has 25 elected delegates to the national Democratic convention, scheduled to be held in Denver in late August. Those delegates will help choose the party's presidential candidate.

Can anybody point to anything supporting the assertion that Al Franken is a "coke addict?"

I mean, we do know Limbaugh was a junkie.

I assume you included the "while working on SNL" to indicate he was drugged out while at work. I truly hope, at least at that time, he was a limousine liberal and wasn't driving home himself.

I would hate to think someone as socially enlightened as Al Franken (according to him, I do am not as socially enlightened as he is) would not have hit the streets high. That's gotta be, like, impossible dude!

I hope all residents of nevada are not as stupid as yourself!

Bravo Clark County, flush more money down the drain.
