NORM: Larson, Clooney the royal couple

And the Oscar for the most envied woman in the world goes to ...?

We're guessing it would be Las Vegas model Sarah Larson by a landslide, after she shined as one of the golden girls of Oscar night.

Larson, 28, didn't win one of the coveted statuettes, but when you're parading down the red carpet with boyfriend George Clooney and sitting in the front row, you've hit the lottery of Hollywood royalty.

The former cocktail server at Moon nightclub at the Palms has been dating Clooney since things heated up in June at the Las Vegas premiere of "Ocean's Thirteen."

  • Larson, who grew up in Washington state and won NBC's "Fear Factor" in 2005, was stunning in a beaded ice blue, pale pink and gold Valentino provided by the designer.

Her hair was styled by Las Vegas stylist and makeup artist Melissa Conner, who said she went with "classic Hollywood glamour, a modern version of Veronica Lake or Rita Hayworth."

The floral dress "made such a statement," said Conner, "that we definitely wanted to go with a clean, fresh look."

Much is being made of the appearance being the first time Clooney, 46, has taken a girlfriend to the Oscars.

When Larson, 28, told red carpet reporters that the dress was "really heavy," Clooney made a gallant offer.

"I will carry her," he said.

    GENNIFER SELLING TAPES

Gennifer Flowers tells me she is putting the tapes of her recorded conversations with Bill Clinton during their 12-year affair on the auction block.

Flowers, who came forward during Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign with details of the relationship, said she decided to part with the tapes after renewed interest surfaced. She was offered $5 million by a Japanese collector in the 1990s, she said.

Asked about the timing of her announcement coming out as Hillary Clinton continues to slide in her presidential bid, "I don't need to hurt Hillary. She is doing a fine job of that herself, along with her idiot husband. Karma is an interesting thing. If these two don't get elected, and they are a team, it will be karma coming back to visit them. It's about time."

When Bill Clinton denied the relationship during his campaign, Flowers called a news conference and played what she said were secretly recorded phone conversations.

"These are the tapes I brought forth as proof," she said.

Flowers, who lives in Las Vegas, sued Hillary Clinton, George Stephanopoulos, James Carville and others, accusing them of orchestrating a campaign to discredit her. Carville and Stephanopoulos alleged Flowers doctored the tapes.

Flowers, 58, said she has kept the tapes "very safe all these years, and when I just recently received more interest, I said, 'Why not?'

"I certainly would enjoy the money for my future security. I don't have any guarantee what might be coming."

Flowers is exploring a new book with "explosive story additions to the Clinton affair," publicist Bruce Merrin said in a release.

BAD DRESS wrote on February 27, 2008 06:03 AM: Norm she was NOT the Golden Girl of the Oscars!
There was just attention given to her as everyone was wondering if he was bringing her, as there were rumors a month ago that they had split.
As for the dress.. U-G-L-Y! Apparently George called Valentino folks a little too late and that was the only dress left. It looked like a drape and didn't fit her right in the bust.. as for being heavy, it just looks like it wasn't altered correctly.
And the hair... OMG, Melissa Connor's biz will go down the tube--Melissa you should be ashamed, you should have put her hair up, and put more make-up on her. Remember, people are taking pictures, her make-up is not popping out.
Here's some advice Sarah, go back and find old pictures of Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant. Talk about shining.. That woman surely made a name for herself. The first time Hugh brought her out, the world was a buzz. That woman is what you would call, "put together" and "stunning". That's what you need Sarah, to look *stunning* at these events.

Matt Damon wrote on February 26, 2008 03:35 PM: I can't believe Larson's cinderella slipper hasn't fallen off by now. She must be awfully good in the sack. Then again, she's had plenty of practice! LOL

juniper wrote on February 26, 2008 02:45 PM: Norm, you're starting to lose me as a fan.

Why are you part of the farce that Sarah is just this sweet innocent cocktail waitress who found Prince Charming. She's "modeled" for the N9NE group in very little clothing that require "stars" to be placed where her panties should have been, and photographed licking the butt & thigh of other women.
We all know of the "rumors" of paid compensation for "companionship" -- and I reaffirm that they're just rumors.

All that said, she may very well be a truly sweet person and that they genuinely have feelings for each other, regardless of other possible "financial" issues.

But enough of the gushing that they're a "royal couple"! No one believes that.

jrskpr wrote on February 26, 2008 11:21 AM: NORM!...."after she shined as one of the golden..." HELLO? That should be SHONE. Come on, dammit, English is taking enough of a beating without "journalists" doing it, too.

TiredofthisCrap wrote on February 26, 2008 11:14 AM: Ugh...George Clooney started going to the Oscars in 2006, when he first won. He wasn't in a steady relationship the past two years. He's only been attending the ceremonies for three years now. Of course he'll bring his girlfriend to the Oscars. The dress was trashed by every fashion show and someone actually claims to styling that mess of hair.If he dropped 40k in Vegas for Valentine's Day (a claim no one believes and he had to be asked on the red carpet what he did for Valentine's Day and I still don't believe he spent Valentine's Day with her)couldn't he paid for a stylist, a real hairdresser and make up artist. Sorry Vegas isn't known for it's fashion just gambling. And could they finally end this farce of a" relationship" and move on, she seems bored and angry when she's with him.

Madame wrote on February 26, 2008 10:26 AM: Envy someone who made it to many worst-dressed lists on the first try? Never!

Larson's hair was styled? It looked like a homejob to me - flat, thin, unappealing. And the dress? Like it started out life as someone else's trailer curtains. Too bad money can't buy taste, and too bad hiring the escort didn't help Clooney get Best Actor.

jeezlouise wrote on February 26, 2008 08:54 AM: Her dress was about something that the royals would have worn-sans the hat. And George is definately ,the queen.
