Man denies murder-for-hire charges

A Nevada ex-convict denies trying to hire a hit man from his jail cell to kill a state judge, a prosecutor and a police detective handling his case.

A court spokesman said Daimon Devi Hoyt, 42, pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he solicited the slayings of Clark County District Judge Michelle Leavitt, prosecutor Sandra DiGiacomo and Detective Bradley Nickell.

    • District Judge Douglas Herndon scheduled trial for June 16.

    Police allege Hoyt, who also uses the name Daimon Monroe, offered to pay a fellow inmate at the county jail $10,000 for each death.

    Hoyt is being held on charges including burglary and theft, conspiracy and sexual assault with a minor.
