INSPECTIONS AT SURGERY CENTERS COMPLETED

Surveyors have completed inspections at each of the state's 50 ambulatory surgery centers, said Martha Framsted, a spokeswoman for the Nevada State Health Division.

But surveyors with the state Bureau of Licensure and Certification and investigators from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention need to revisit two Las Vegas centers to observe procedures, she said Wednesday.

Framsted said surveyors identified several deficiencies at an additional clinic in Las Vegas regarding improper disinfection of endoscopes. The deficiencies were found during March 5 and March 7 inspections at the Digestive Disease Center II, 2700 Crimson Canyon Drive, near Lake Mead and Buffalo drives.

Though the deficiencies are less serious than those discovered at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada, the clinic at the center of the massive public health alert, they require a corrective action plan.

Bob Cirelli wrote on March 20, 2008 05:29 AM: So what were the results? We see the results of restaurant inspections every week in the paper. Why not publish the results of these inspections also? After all, improper procedures here can and do kill. Perhaps someone should file a FOIA request to make the details public.
