NORM: Owner Jay-Z says 40/40 Club is fine

Music giant Jay-Z is taking the offensive in an attempt to dispel rumors that his 4-month-old 40/40 Club in Las Vegas is in trouble.

The best-selling rapper, in an e-mail response, said his relationship with multibillionaire landlord Sheldon Adelson is "positive."

Jay-Z's latest 40/40 Club has been beset by rumors and speculation since it opened New Year's Eve in Adelson's new Palazzo.

"Our landlords are great, and we respect their input," Jay-Z said in the e-mail.

  • His New York-based publicist Ron Berkowitz suggested the media inquiries are being fueled by competitors and disgruntled employees.

"We are high profile and targets for rumors and false accusations," Berkowitz said.

One of the more recent rumors had Adelson reportedly upset after visiting the club.

"No, not true at all," said Jay-Z. "He actually appeared very pleased, and a week after that visit, he held his grand-opening party at the club. He has only been there twice (and I) would love to have him back. I'd move walls if he so desired."

He added, "We have met our financial projections well above our expectations. Business is great. We have conquered all the operational goals and are pleased with the results."

Adelson, the third-richest man in the United States, has been embroiled in a dispute with the owners of Tao nightclub and restaurant over what was to be a sister nightclub in Palazzo.

    ROONEY SIN CITY-BOUND

London's Fleet Street gossip hounds are atwitter over the Sin City bachelor party planned by English soccer star Wayne Rooney, one of Europe's most scrutinized athletes.

The 22-year-old Manchester United standout is flying to Las Vegas on May 26 with 30 lads, including teammates and boxer Ricky Hatton. Rooney is getting married June 12.

Rooney and Las Vegas figure to be an interesting marriage. In 2006, his six-figure gambling losses made headlines, adding to his bad-boy reputation. Some fans have yet to forgive him for losing his temper and getting kicked out of a 2006 World Cup game that ended in a 1-0 win for Portugal.

Rooney's Las Vegas ties include Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl, who owns the Everton Football Club, Rooney's former team.

Four years ago, Rooney turned down Everton's $90,000-a-week offer and went to soccer giant Manchester United, winners of a furious bidding that cost them $46 million.

Rooney and his lads are reportedly staying at Bellagio.

Hey racist pig, crawl back in your whole and shut your mouth, or better yet move to Siberia and you'll be the only person there.

The multimillion dollar Live Nation deal speaks to not only his savvy but his longevity.

I think you meant to say: "Now hear this: Soccer is NOT a sport."

What the hell does this have to do with the article anywhere? Go take your ignorant soccer-bashing somewhere else, tool.

yeah yeah wrote on May 12, 2008 03:50 PM: the employees of the club are always complaining about the towdiness of their guests. the employees are always complaining about the shadiness of the management. the bar staff of the club is a rotating cast of characters. that same staff are sometimes ashamed to admit they work there, are always talking about getting in at another spot that wouldnt be as volatile as the one they're currently employed by. the guests of the club are rowdy, raucous, and overly demanding. they complain about prices, the size of shots, question the authenticity of their orders ("i ordered patron. this dont taste like no patron, and its not even a full shot!" type of deal) it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch. of course not everyone that goes there is bad, but many are. i'm sorry, but when you have people screaming and carrying on in what is supposed to be a 5-diamond casino at four and five in the morning talking about "where da hoes at" and "i got big juicy titties" , it's a crowd that simply sours the reputation of the entire casino. it will not last long. i work at the palazzo, on the graveyard shift when all of this is going on. i see it with my own eyes. i talk to members of the 40/40 staff almost nightly. i know whats going on there, and i see the actions of their guests. adelson could not have possibly known what he was getting himself into. it's like a smaller version of the NBA All-Star debacle, on a weekly basis. it's going away. it's just a matter of time. for norm to even be talking about this, is the writing on the wall.

Here are true facts: 40/40 is a sports bar during the day (WITH NO COVER!) and becomes nightclub after 10pm. The club only charges a cover on Saturday nights! The club was free the first couple of months to drive up the excitement and buzz, get people interested in coming. They long advertised that they would begin a cover on Saturday nights starting on March/April... Just like their clubs in NY & Atlantic City has.

Also note, the "black people" are the bread and butter of the club, one of their target markets if you must say. Please understand that "black people" DO know how to pay to have a good time, and are willing to. Just check out all the other clubs in LV that charge a cover, plenty of black people there....!
So get outa here with your dumb "push out the black people" statements, like black people don know how to pay a cover or something. News Flash having a cover doesn’t push out the black people! It makes the clientele more upscale, sophisticated and classy, with those willing to pay good money for a great entertainment experience. Oh wait, according to your logic black people cant fit into that category for some reason! GTFOH!!!!!!

hey jay-z, i have some swamp land in AZ i want to sell you.
