A 46-year-old man who killed his daughter in a drunken driving collision in 2005 was sentenced Wednesday to spend two to five years in prison.

Harold Dudley had pleaded guilty to killing his 3-year-old daughter, Victoria, in the collision on the Las Vegas Beltway at Losee Road.

Two other children riding with Dudley also were injured.

Authorities said Dudley was driving a Dodge Caravan about 70 mph in a 55 mph zone east on the Beltway when he crashed into a northbound Ford Explorer that was carrying four people.

The driver and passengers in the Ford were taken to University Medical Center after the collision, but authorities didn't report their conditions at that time.

In the year prior to the collision, three other fatal traffic accidents occurred at or near the intersection. Authorities later installed a traffic light at the site.

Police seek help in burglary scam

Las Vegas police are asking those with information about five or six people who are committing a string of burglaries against older people to come forward.

The suspects pose as neighbors, city employees or utility workers in order to gain the confidence of the homeowners, who typically range in age from 60 to 85, according to police.

Sometimes a man and a woman come to the door, asking to use the bathroom using the excuse that the woman is pregnant.

One of the suspects then distracts the homeowner while the other steals jewelry, money or anything easily accessible.

The scam has hit 15 people across the valley, most recently on May 8 near Sahara and Eastern avenues.

The suspects are described as well-dressed and well-spoken. Police said homeowners should ask for identification for anybody asking to enter their homes.

Police are asking anybody with information on the suspects to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

Panel won't delay action against judge

The Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission is going forward with its complaint against Family Court Judge Nicholas Del Vecchio, who is accused of sexual harassment and using his position to get favors.

Del Vecchio previously asked the commission to hold off on its complaint until a civil lawsuit in District Court with similar allegations is resolved.

In an order issued Wednesday, the commission denied his request. It stated that the civil suit doesn't impact the commission's complaint.

The 38-count complaint alleges Del Vecchio took nude photos of his former wife's daughter when she was between 14 and 16 and had her perform oral sex on him.

He later coerced her to have sex with him when she worked as his judicial assistant, the complaint states.

Nonstudent sought in school shooting

Shots were fired in the parking lot of Cheyenne High School about 3 p.m. Wednesday, but no one was hit or hurt, Clark County School District police said.

A nonstudent came onto campus to confront a student about a dispute unrelated to school. He fired shots and fled the campus at 3200 W. Alexander Road.

Police are looking for the suspect, said Clark County School Police Lt. Ken Young said.

The incident happened after the end of the school day, which is about 1 p.m.
