20-year-old driver charged in two deaths after crash
Two people were killed in a crash Friday night when a 20-year-old driver in a pickup was speeding and running red lights near Lamb and Las Vegas boulevards, Las Vegas police said.
Police said a 17-year-old passenger in the pickup and the female driver of the car were killed. Police did not release their identities.
After he was released from a hospital, Nathan Hardy was arrested on two felony counts of reckless driving causing a death. The crash happened about 8:40 p.m.
A 45-year-old Las Vegas woman was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla south on Las Vegas Boulevard and entered the intersection on Lamb on a green light, police said. At that time, Hardy was driving a 1992 Dodge Dakota south on Lamb. Witnesses told police the Dakota was speeding and ran several red lights. Police said the Dakota struck the right side of the Corolla.
The driver of the Corolla was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup's 17-year-old male passenger died shortly after arriving at University Medical Center.

Two 20-year-old Mormon missionaries die in Romania
Mormon church officials say two 20-year-old missionaries have died in Romania. One, Jace Edwards Davis, was from Logandale, about 45 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The other was identified as McKay Choy Burrows of Highland, Utah.
Church spokesman Scott Trotter said the missionaries died Friday from "apparent accidental natural gas asphyxiation."
Trotter said the two were serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Romania Bucharest Mission.
No other details were available.

11 inmates injured during fight at Arizona prison
Eleven inmates were injured after a fight broke out Saturday afternoon at a prison complex at Lewis, Ariz.
One inmate was airlifted to a hospital, four were taken by ambulance and another six were taken off site by corrections department staff, spokesman Barrett Marson said.
The fight started between two inmates and mushroomed to include an unknown number of inmates. Weapons were involved in the fight, but Marson wouldn't say what type they were. He didn't know the extent of the injuries.
Saturday's fight occurred in a unit that houses about 800 inmates who represent a high risk to public safety, according to a corrections department Web site.

Candidate severs ties with supporter over racist remark
Republican gubernatorial hopeful Meg Whitman is severing ties with an elected official who described himself as a "proud racist."
The Whitman campaign issued a statement Saturday disavowing Santa Clarita Councilman Bob Kellar. During a recent Tea Party-style rally in Southern California, Kellar blamed illegal immigrants for harming the economy. His videotaped remarks were posted on YouTube and caused an uproar.

TV news was reporting that the 17 year old was the passenger in the car, not the pick-up.
So it was a mother and her son who died.
Someone needs to get their stories straight.
If you listen to what Bob Kellar said, was he felt it is unfair to label citizens opposed to the criminal illegal invasion and felt we should have one flag and one language.
If you continue to use that label than I’m a proud racist.
The whole issue is taken out of content, and this small article is hardly truth in media.
He worded it very unwisely and now the exploitation my criminal supporters of the ethnic group that claimed this issue is in full swing.
Modification of the Justice system is in order. Again we find a careless driver killing two citizens. He is in the crushed cab of the truck, no doubt about the drivers guilt. We have two victims in the crushed car, no doubt about their unfortunate death. No need for a trial, no need to let Lawyers dress this killer up and teach him to sob before the court, No meed to put the victims family thru anymore grief. There is no doubt about his guilt. Execution before the funeral would appropreate
